I just stumbled across Star Trek on steam, as a pre-order. 3 things stick out to me. 1) It looks like it'll be a story-driven game, like mass effect, only in the star trek universe. 2) It, too, has lens flares 3) 50 euro to buy the game and 50 euro to buy the "elite officer pack", which has, and I quote: The Elite Officer Pack download features an array of uniforms, weapons and gear. Play as two of the greatest science-fiction heroes ever -- Kirk and Spock – in the award-winning STAR TREK, a completely original co-op experience that expands the Star Trek universe even further. Set in the 23rd Century world of the massively popular Star Trek reboot, this cover-based shooter immerses players in a rich, original story and action-packed combat. Man, those levels look straight out of ME3. I don't mean "sci fi cover-based shooter"=ME3 either. I mean those levels look like actual ME3 levels. Though maybe I shouldn't be surpised given the trailers for #2 have such a similar vibe I'm wondering how many level builders got poached by Hollywood May be good for a few chuckles.

Am I reading that right that it's 50 euros extra to change your character model to Captain Kirk?
Yeah, that doesn't reek of failure and desperate cash grab even a little bit.

The animation looked like ME. The levels and models reminded me more of Jedi Knight or something. Only with lens flare ofc.

The clip remands me of Elite Forces - which I absolutely loved as a Quake 3 engine game. If the gameplay is as good, I might wait for it to go on sale and buy it

They are called Orions in the Trek universe. My Orion captain will quite happily gut you from crotch to crown with a bat'leth forged by Kahless the Unforgettable himself (made in tribute for me ganking the King of Klingon Hell) for that comparison. (There's already a perfectly fine Star Trek game out - it's called Star Trek Online).
