Well, the wait begins.   Ohhhhh, I see.

Kentucky is actually putting together a pretty decent recruiting class with Mark Stoops as their new HC, but shit, they could be 14th in the country and still be 14th in the SEC.   Heartbreak

I think he's going to be better than Mike, but I don't think Bob could save Kentucky.

Deer antler spray is becoming all the rage

Quote
The company that says it provided deer-antler spray, a product that contains a banned substance, to Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis also sold its goods to members of the 2012 national championship Alabama football team, according to a co-owner of the company.

It does raise sort of an interesting question I guess, do you get in trouble for the intent of cheating, even if the product you use does literally nothing?

Wow, it looks like LSU is actually going to get a real offensive coordinator. Cam Cameron is supposedly going to replace the complete disaster they had at OC.

Soooo, the NCAA apparently REALLY fucked up the Miamuh investigation.

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/_/id/8959938/ncaa-acknowledges-missteps-miami-hurricanes-investigation

Yeah "missteps." You know what qualifies as a misstep?

Quote
One of the more interesting elements in the report released Monday was that now-retired Associate Director of Enforcement Rich Johanningmeier -- the original point of contact for the association with Shapiro -- bought a prepaid cellphone and paid for Shapiro's prison phone calls. The NCAA spent about $8,200 "to fund communications with Mr. Shapiro, including transfers of approximately $4,500 to his prison commissary account."

The NCAA issued a bribe money payment to Shapiro's prison account. The fuck.  swamp poop

New rules coming up for the season... the big one:

Quote
a new football rule that requires players who target and contact defenseless players above the shoulders to be ejected, effective for the 2013 season. The change increases the on-field penalty for targeting by adding the automatic ejection to the existing 15-yard penalty.

This should be glorious to watch. NCAA refs barely know what pass interference looks like. Wait until they have to sort out a defenseless hit ejection. Wait until the slo-mo replay that shows a guy was hit in the shoulder and not the head, but they tossed out the best defender in a huge matchup.

There's a reckoning coming. When all the conferences agree to toss these assholes at the NCAA out on the street. They have no credibility and diminishing power.

What we're seeing with the NCAA is vaguely reminiscent of what we are seeing with our federal gubment.  Seriously, Mark Emmert and that bunch of assbags have lost all sense of ethics.

It's time to call a spade a spade and make the NCAA a pay-for-play, alt-minor league situation.

I've been saying this for years. The NCAA big-time TV-covered athletics programs are professional farm leagues and should be treated as such. The days of the "student athlete" in men's basketball, baseball and football are fucking over.

In shocking news the new NCAA college football playoff will be called the College Football Playoff

Quote
"It will be simple," BCS executive director Bill Hancock said earlier this week. "It will not be cutesy. And it will be descriptive. I've seen too many people make mistakes by trying to be cutesy."

 Ohhhhh, I see.

Did we really need an announcement for this?

It sounds like a subtle shot at the big ten naming of their divisions. Or I'd like to believe it is.

It's amazing to me that the ACC is still in existence.  I still can't believe that those dumbasses signed a GOR which will lock all of them into this shitty deal for 12 years.

ACC Network getting off to a great start.

Don't get me wrong.  I don't relish the idea of watching Duke versus Wake Forest or Syracuse versus Pitt in football.  But I think that the game is better when the bad guys from the 80s are good.  I love when Florida State and Miami are top notch.  But, other than Clemson, there's not a lot that this piece of shit conference has to offer.

The NCAA completely ignores Oregon. Man, they are inept. They couldn't investigate their own junk.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/pac12/2013/06/26/oregon-football-ncaa-investigation-probation/2459297/

The coach bails because he knows it will be bad. Oregon offers to put itself on a 2 probation because THEY know they are guilty. And the NCAA comes in and says, ok 3 years instead kthxbye. No bowl ban, just a stupid show-cause edict on coaches that are already gone. What a limp-dicked move.

The faster this playoff comes along and renders these guys useless, the better. Also, I really really hope Ed O'Bannon wins this case, and I don't think he plans to settle no matter what. He wants to expose the NCAA, and if it was me I'd want the same.

The NCAA is a business poorly disguised as a regulating body.
