I've got that tea robot thing on my Amazon wishlist -- I can't quite see my way clear to buying a gadget like that for myself, but I'd be super excited if my whole family decided to pool their funds and get me one as a present.

Getting a Roku for my mom and brother.  Those things are stupid cheap these days, and if they're as awesome as I've heard I think they'll get a lot of use out of it.

My dad's impossible to shop for, but I saw this flipbookit thing on Kickstarter a couple of months ago and pegged it as something that he might like, especially if I include some custom content with it.  We'll see how it goes over.

Yeah, but how BIG is it, that's the question.  I think he's getting an LED this time.

No, he's not, he's getting another DLP. Cost per diagonal inch is all that matters to him.

I think it's a ruse.  I have a feeling he's getting back into small-band radio.

So, husband asked me if I'd like to get the complete box set for a series I have saved on the DVR, which I'd like because then I can delete what's on the DVR and actually watch them in order - easily - since I originally recorded the episodes during a marathon and they aren't in order.  And yes, I do rewatch this show, so the box set would be lovely.

There really isn't much I want or need.  Unless someone has a line on a sugar momma.  I might consider one of those.

I'm personally looking for any kind of Le Creuset pots and pans for cooking.

Get the pots but don't get the pans. Pans get All-Clad.

Kindles on sale for $129 and 50% off Oreilly books today on Amazon.

This Kindle I bought fer myself has not arrived.  But said it was delivered yesterday.  It sometimes happen that carriers scan before they deliver, so customers are supposed to wait a full 24hrs.  So I did.  And it's not here.  So I complained, and have another arriving I think Fri.  That's about it.  But I told the rep (as I watched her update the issue) to ticket the carrier, just for payback.  So there's that.

Yes!  Between the two of them you might go broke, but your food will be lovely and All-Clad pans will give you cooking orgasms.

Picked up a 2.5 quart Emile Henry Tagine for my mom. I'm always jealous of the kitchen things I buy for her.

Except for the boxing and wrapping (which I may do this weekend), I'm done shopping this year.  I'm not getting anything for my brothers because fuck them (tired of getting ignored year after year while I've given a present each year.  Usually not even an acknowledgement on the years I need to ship since I'm not there in person) and one of my nephews has aged out of the gifting (I get them each a theme ornament every Christmas, so by the time they're 18 they'll have that many ornaments of that kind, e.g. angels or snowmen or nutcrackers, etc.) and I only have 1 niece and 3 other nephews.

I suppose I'll get the husband something Lego related, he just needs to tell me what it will be if he doesn't buy it himself again this year and tell me thanks for the wonderful gift.  awesome, for real

Here are the things I asked for:

A budget laptop $250-$300 range that has wireless, runs windows, and can run my MS Office programs so I can use it for work stuff (not Windows 8, that would be too pricey)
A Roasting Rack and Pan
A new pair of New Balance grey shoes. Size 9.
Starbucks whole bean Christmas blend coffee
Boxer shorts in colors other than white
A UGA golf hat with the G on the front
Apples to Apples board game
Monopoly World of Warcraft edition
Green Minecraft-Creeper T Shirt with the black face
A Braves coffee mug (15oz or larger)
Running white ankle socks
Donations to the Atlanta Community Food Bank

Dude... I mean really dude. They are trying to help you. Most of the games we play aren't "war games". Games about trading resources, planning train routes, setting up power infrastructures. You could say that Monopoly is about Real Estate Investment, but really no, its the game you play with your eight year old cousin because its playable by eight year olds.

Broaden your board game horizons.

Not all of us have geek friends who are uber in to geek games or anything beyond Parker Brothers games.   I've owned Axis and Allies for YEARS and never played it because I can't find anyone interested.  I'd rather own 3 games that get played by myself, peers and co-workers than 50 that will never get touched.

Merusk gets it. Board games are about your audience. My family likes these games, and I like playing with my family. I seriously doubt I could get my 60 year old father into any of the stuff yall discuss in that thread. However, he loves monopoly. My mom loves word games.

In other words, don't think you're doing me a favor. Different strokes.
