We've had little derails about this one in the Dwarf Fortress and Prison Architect threads, but I don't think it has its own thread.  Here we are.

Official website.

I just wanted a place to post their latest trailer, complete with terrible Scottish accent.

I'm not getting my hopes up too much for this one, as it looks like it's likely to be fairly simple and cutesy; Prison Architect has more promise as a GUIfied spiritual successor to Dwarf Fortress.  But the fact that they're actually going with all-out ripoff, dwarves and all, is interesting.

That trailer made me want to play Dungeon Keeper more than the game it was promoting.

RPS look at Game of Dwarves (and something called Impire)

Quote
A Game of Dwarves is for the constructor, the contemplator and the aesthete. That latter is in spite of the fact that Impire is by far the more attractive game. A Game of Dwarves doesn’t impress the eyes but the wide-ranging and apparently meaningless customisation options will have meaning for a certain audience, made up of those who like to build something and make it uniform, erratic or functional as much for its own sake as to unlock any achievement or to fulfill any criteria.

I was actually a little concerned that they'd be aiming to make something more "gamey" and less "sandboxy", but it sounds like they're retaining a decent amount of that "fuck around building shit" quality that tends to make games sticky for me.

Looks like this was released a couple of days ago, 9.99€ on Steam. Did anyone try it yet?

This is completely unrelated to this thread, but a spelling mistake in an SMS from a friend yesterday gave me the best name for a mad dwarf ever, "centimental".

Dabbled with it.

Not very good, imo. Everything is overly simplistic, shallow. Teleporting enemies were also frustrating and they tended to be overly leveled compared to depth. Its like Dwarf Fortress for 4 year olds with no real re-playability.

That's pretty much what I've heard as well.  Disappointing.

Yeah, I played around with it too, and I agree with Ceryse. There's just not enough to it or something.
