Hey I am just saying... the last few games barely had enough testing of the game, let alone the servers. Is this what it's like to have a REAL gaming company?

Posting here since it's timely:  GW1 is having an event that rewards a Tormented Weapon.  This could be worth 1-2 points in the Hall of Monuments depending on if you have any weapons at all.  It's a bit long, and will require visiting some out-of-the-way places, but it's not excessively difficult.  There may be a few things you can do to help contribute towards other points, or at least get you some more gold.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

To expand on what Lantyssa just said, be aware, if you haven't beaten the campaigns, the odds of you completing this event are pretty low, since you have to traverse all over through the world, some of which you won't have unlocked until near the ends of them.  Don't see this as a free 1-2 points if you haven't already started on it.

It's a hell of a lot cheaper than 23 ectos. And double faction is darn nice.

I've got all four stories beat, and it's still a lot of travelling.  Some of it has hubs I never unlocked, and others are four zones deep in travelling.

It's still the fastest to get the weapons by far, though.

Yea, it's about 6 hours and change if you're doing it solo. Still if you don't have a massively loaded account (from selling 6th/7th bday presents, etc), it's a decent way to get a tormented weapon for a point.

Note that while (sunspear / EOTN factions / luxon-kurzick / etc) reputation gain is doubled during the event, it is still a huge fucking grind to get points that way.
edit: especially things like 'party', 'drunk' and 'sweet' points. Even though this event may be giving out items that boost those title tracks -- if you aren't prepared for a massive grind, don't do it!  ACK!

Trade the items for alcohol, which you can sell... :P

By no means is it a hand-out.  But there was no way I was getting a Torment weapon otherwise.  I've already gotten a Totem Axe from the first leg.

Yeah, I wasn't saying don't do it, just that if you weren't already past most of the easy HoM points, you probably couldn't do it.  It was my only real way I was getting one also.  Up to 32 points now, almost bored enough to try to get to 35 due to this.

Is that quest series permanent or a limited time event? I'm in the process of getting my last 2 points and the tormented weapon wouldn't really help at all at this point but it might be worth doing anyways, i bet i could milk a lot of cash from GW2 people who never worked on their HoM someday.

The event lasts until the end of August, iirc.

Unfortunately, the tormented weapon gets customized (soulbound) to you in the end, so you can't sell them / give them away.

Anyone else have to jump through a bunch of port forwarding hoops to connect to the stress test? Trying to decide how much effort I should be putting into this, or if I should just keep clicking Log In.

Spent an hour dicking around with it and then read a tweet about the test only being for pre-purchasers. Since I purchased and then got a refund (a buddy is hooking me up with a free CE), I was probably not even eligible. It would be nice if the launcher would relay that info to me instead of just telling me that the connection failed, but oh well.

I'll elaborate once the internal beta's over (the motherfucker is still going), but this is the most impressively run video game testing I've ever seen, internal or external. It's not even close.

Yeah, it's clear that they actually give a fuck about maintaining a proper infrastructure to support the players instead of "oh shit, the server farm's on fire, quick someone go buy a new rack and slap it in".  It's a nice change of pace.
