Yeah it's hard to express just how happy I am to have him back,he's my little buddy and the little happy dance he does every time I come home makes it impossible for shitty days to follow me past my door.  The only downside is that he was our dog,and serves as a constant reminder of Stef and what I lost.  Small price to pay tho, and I know that things only get better with time, some of the women that I thought I'd never stop caring deeply for in the past are just a faded memory and a "meh" now,as will Stef be in time I'm sure.

Ok, that little bit about her phone call to get the dog? And her taking the dog in the first place? I know you find it hard to believe right now but I have to agree with a few others here. She wasn't what you thought she was and you're better off without her.

There are far far worse things you could do with a dog that you find yourself unable to care for than to give it away to a good home, actually. Adopting it out yourself through Craiglist is one of the best options, really - I'm guessing shelters in Mississippi are not real likely to be no-kill, and a lot of people just dump their pets on the side of the road when they can't care for them.

I think it might have been more insisting on taking him and then giving him a weekend ultimatum to collect it before she gave it away. It's probably one of the more responsible ways of dealing with an unwanted pet but it's like a parent insisting on taking the child from a breakup and then telling the other parent they've got to collect the baby or they're putting it up for adoption. There didn't seem to be any thought about Nerf in the whole thing.

I'll chime in with everyone else that it sounds like you've come through this learning the right things, those two years sound fucking awful and it sounds like your elective professor was a tool. Getting the degree sounds like the right thing to do, I can't even imagine having that amount of student debt (I know, I know, $16k in the US probably isn't unreasonable for student loans) without anything to show for it. I can only wish you the best with country club job and hope you manage to get a few more guys soon to handle the shittier stuff.

$16k is nothing.  Out-of-state tuition for University of Cincinnati - a public school - is $12k/ year.   Xavier is $15k for Arts & Science, $16k for business for a year (no in-state/ out of state difference).   Getting a degree for $16k  is a steal.

Nerf, stop thinking she was all that and you'll be able to move on.  She wasn't all that and clearly not right for you.  You're just pining for something you can't have at this point.

The past cannot be changed. The future is yet within your power.

Glad to see things are heading on up.  I think you might of lucked out with the chick leaving.  If she can't take care of that dog, then she's not worth it!

Congrats on the new job. I suggest finishing up the Biology degree and getting to work on this project. Then you just need to find a country club in a more permissive state.

You're better off without her. She did you a favor by dumping you. You are too good for her.

Glad you got your dog back.

The fact she called him to a) admit he was right and b) give him a chance to come get the dog says to me she did, in fact, give a thought to Nerf in this thing. It would've been much easier for her to just give the dog away to someone (or dump him somewhere) than what she did.

Glad Einstein has wound up with you, Nerf, and that he makes you happy.  Heart

I can't believe she was just going to give it away on Craigslist.  You're so fucking lucky that she left you and had the sense to call you about the dog.  That's just crazy.

Yeah, gotta agree with this. Shopping a dog out on Craigslist is a fucked up shitty thing to do. You do not fuck with a man's dog.

EDIT: Oh and I can tell you now that animal shelters in Mississippi are almost ALL kill shelters, with the exception of CARA. It's actually a big deal here that so many shelters are kill shelters. It's one of the reasons I have a 3rd dog.

See, that's just more reason for you to put up dog pics. All we have is the cat thread about cats getting poopy.

I'm allergic to cats (hence my mock hatred of them) and to a limited extend dogs.  I have to be very careful about having certain dogs and I don't always show my full symptoms on first meeting with a dog.  If I didn't have these limitations our house would probably look like a pet hoarder's house because my wife and I are not super keen on the idea of pets being slaughtered off because some idiot decided to have a baby and doesn't love booboo anymore.  So I have to exercise my love for animals mostly by giving money to shelters.  Texas is better than I would have expected regarding options for ownerless pets (but that's not saying much).

She called sometime in mid September and said that I was right about her not being able to take care of him

Rough translation : Everyday she looked at that dogs' crazy fucked up eyes and it just reminded her too much of you know who!

Screenplay.

Working the dog in is the question. Maybe make the landlord AND the dog creepy aliens hiding out in mundane form. In the end, he might lose the girl, but his life is looking up -- and his creepy, crazy, alien dog is back with him. Watching. Waiting.

Seriously, glad you at least got the dog back. I couldn't imagine losing mine, the stupid furry lump of lazy that she is. I do like the blurry shot. It's like they've joined the Speed Force or whatever makes speedsters in comics so...speedy.
