The symmetry of the divisions allowed me to do something that I thought was pretty fun: each week each division will have the same races playing one another.

For instance, on day 1 both divisions have Pro Elf v. Wood, High v. High, and Dark v. Dark.  On day 2 both divisions have Dark v. Pro, High v. Dark and Wood v. High.  So on, and so forth.

Oh, and...we meet again, Llyse!  I look forward to destroying you with touchdowns.

Think we have decent-ish time zones Eldaec so will look out for you on Steam friday and saturday night if you can be around then for our match? Should be on around 7pm UK time onwards.

Labor Day 3 - 1 Haute Couture

The first (and second) match of Elfbowl Season 1 has been played, and Llyse took the crown.  Our first match looked good for me going into the half 1-1 with me receiving and Llyse down on elves, but the Mexican power grid denied me a chance for a triumphant second half.  I lost power and we had to restart the game.

In the second iteration of our match we had a high flying first half with Llyse going up 2-1 at the half and me receiving.  But I failed to equalize after getting bogged down in Llyse's half of the field and was caught out of position when Llyse got the ball and ran all over the field with it.  I nearly denied him a third TD, but alas...it was not to be.

We both got some nice levels, and it was a very fun match.  Looking forward to more.

Morningwood Packers (Luckton)  1 - 2 PonyElves II Comstar

2 Dead, 1 MNG, 1 BH vs 3 BH,  1 -MV (and probably fired catcher).

That match was brutal, and may have killed BOTh teams future. No mercy was given or taken. The game ended with less than 1 full team on the pitch.

Good god, I was having H&H league flashbacks  ACK!  Two of my linemen are dead, two more were injured with one getting MNG'ed.  For Comstar, no deaths but a Catcher took a -1MV injury.

As for the rest of the game, Comstar schooled me proper in the fine art of Elfish bullshit tactics, but even with all of my losses, I managed to get a TD in right before the end of the game.

Oh, and no level ups for either side.

Yeah, Ruvaldt killed one of my line elfs as well but thankfully I had enough to replace him with a catcher  awesome, for real

I watched half of the game on the live broadcast.  Both sides were more brutal than I thought they would be.  I didn't expect that at all, but I guess when two AV7 teams meet there is always a chance.  At least it was just linemen killed/mng for Luckton; they're easier to replace, and you'll get loners who will be their exact match for your next game.

Yes, and now I have no questions on which linemen to put on the line of scrimmage  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

Post-edit: This really was my first outing with a Wood Elf team, so my roster was basically a generic build without anything special sans the Wardancers.  I was really impressed with how well the Leap skill paid off; I probably would not have scored any points without the acrobatics involved.  I still made a good cut of money from the match, and I've invested into an Apoth.  I'll probably forgo replacing the linemen for now (unless a merc happens to fair well in a match SPP-wise), and start saving for Catchers/Throwers.  If anything, the lower TS value could pay off well in getting inducements for the next couple matches.

Iain, I should be around Sunday. We're in similar timezones, so we shouldn't have too much of an issue finding one another.

And luckily, my net connection has been improved to a whopping 1024kb, so performance should be much improved.

I Break Easy 3 - Guild of Fools 1

Well I didn't quite live upto my name until the last 3 turns and unfortunately by then my early luck with the injury dice had done the damage and I was 3 - 0 up. The match started with Eldaec winning the toss and electing to receive and while he managed to knock down all my scrimmage line I was able to bog him down and eventually pop the ball loose to score on turn 6. Injuring 1 and KO'ing 2 elves in the process of which only 1 KO woke up for the second drive.

Eldaec manages to manouver a scoring chance with a pass to his nerves of steel catcher but he flubs the dodge meaning I go into the second half receiving and 1 score to nil up. I receive and with a 2 man advantage manouver a quick score injuring another elf in the process. Again the KO does not wake up so it is now 11 v 8 and I am able to wrestle the ball away, Eldaec takes a both down turn over stunning my elf but killing his own lineman in the process and I score a third whilst also injuring his catcher taking the man down tally to 4 v my full line up by turn 13.

Eldaec receives again and now his injury dice wake up and he scores his first injury of the match on a LOS block and I choose to use the apoth to save a -agi injury to a lineman and again we scrum up around the ball carrier, I pop it loose on turn 14 and with some awsome elf bullshit pull off a dodge, pick up in tacklezone, dodge then move to a short pass, scoring a perfect launch however there was no clear throw path for this pass and Eldaec makes the interception. he then protects the carrier and runs into scoring range on the final turn, I get enough elves back to give me a 2 die block with my wardancer but fail the required dodge ending my final turn, Eldaec easily blitzes my marker clear and then runs in his score to complete the match.

AV7 matches may prove highly entertaining and extremely bloody if this carries on after the Luckton Comstar match and now this one with 7 injuries scored, though Eldaec came off the worst with 2 permanent injuries and a death while my damage was 3 badly hurts (one was apoth'd from minus agi). I scored 2 level ups and now have a Wardancer with sidestep and a lineman with dodge, not sure if Eldaec had any skill ups.

Elf Hatred 2 - Pale Horses 1

Fuck me. My elves left their armor at home today. By the end of the game, I had 4 guys on the pitch. Ended up with 5 casualties, 4 of which are lingering injuries. My witch elf went out first with a niggling injury (will add +1 to all injury rolls) and I have 4 out for the next game. Oh and I got no money.

Sounds like a brutal match.  Gruntle lived up to his word.

In other news, the BBManager league for Elfbowl has been created so fell free to submit your matches.  The password is: elfbowl.

It was a sad day -- only 4 elves were permanently injured. Two elves actually became better -- one of HaemisH's and one of mine -- leveling after their first game. Damn elves!

It was a brutal bit of bad luck for Haemish; he could not buy an armor break on my elves (the only KO against the haters was actually from a both down i chose), the refs were not calling fouls against us, and the assassins knives ran extra sharp. He scored early at the cost of his witch elf, and managed to keep me from equalizing in the first half (In the 8th turn with a clear field I tried to pass the ball around instead of just running it in because that's the sort of elfy bs that gets you spp, except i fumbled the throw). I tied it up in the second half, and then when he was outnumbered 11-to-5 (I believe a lot of his KO'd players were staging a sit in for some reason) I got a blitz on him and basically fielded my own kick for the winning score.

The game is up on bb manager:

Fuck this game.

Everything failed, the block to save my runner from getting ganked and thereby score didn't register despite me hammering the button for several seconds. As a result, my catcher was knocked down, Strazos got the ball back and then scored. Even a push would have prevented it and guaranteed me a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half. A 1d block on an Elf near the ball came up both down, I didn't reroll it as I wanted to knock his elf over anyway, my guy dies (no apoth) and his guy is just fine.

Dodges failed, throws failed, catches failed, blocks failed. Then on turn 13 I get a big GUI Submit window in the middle of the screen that prevented me from moving the camera or selecting anything. I have to sit out the clock for the last three turns while Strazos finishes beating up my guys and scores again.

Got my game in with IainC.

Started out fairly even, with neither High Elf team able to accomplish much of import. However, the dice started to lean towards me, culminating in a TD pass in my final turn of the first half.

Second half started out fairly even, with Iain down a dead elf who died in a both-down. However, the dice were not kind to Iain - or rather, they continued to be kind to me, as I was able to stave off a TD run, and was able to turn the ball back upfield. A UI issue sealed the deal for me with the ball deep in his half.

Hopefully IainC can upload, as BBM is misbehaving for me.

I uploaded the game to BBmanager.

Turn 1:  Riot.

Turn 2: Kick to Strazos, he fails to pick the ball up., I block a line-elf, get a both down and die.

Turn 3: Strazos passes the ball and makes a run for it. I get a marker and a blitzer on his runner and surf him off the pitch. Strazos/ runner is just stunned and the ball is thrown back on next to another of Strazos' Elves deep in my half. I push the Elf away but fail to pick the ball up.

Turn 4: Strazos fails a dodge so I get the ball and throw it to my unmarked catcher. He fails to catch it even with the Catch skill.

Turn 5: Strazos pushes my guys around. I pick the ball up again and pass it to the catcher, he catches it this time and runs down the pitch. I blow my last reroll on a GfI to put him out of reach of all but one Dwagon. Try to block the only Dwagon who can reach my runner but nothing happens.

Turn 6: Strazos makes 2 GfIs and a 1d block to blitz my runner down. The ball lands in a spot where he can't get it this turn. I try to clear a path to it but get a turnover on my blitz.

Turn 7: Strazos picks the ball up and fumbles a pass to a receiver in my end zone. I try to get to the ball but fail a dodge.

Turn 8: Strazos picks the ball up and successfully passes to his receiver to take a 1-0 lead. My last turn ends with my blitzer rolling double skulls on a block.

Half time and I'm down a player, Strazos' team is uninjured, he hasn't even had any KOs.

Turn 9: I make some blocks and fail a dodge with a reroll trying to get players into Strazos' backfield. Strazos throws a couple of blocks then gets a both down which he chooses not to reroll.

Turn 10: I clear a marker off the Elf closest to Strazos' endzone and pass the ball to him but the throw (with a reroll) goes wide. Strazos picks the ball up and moves it out of danger.

Turn 11: I go to blitz the ball carrier but fail a dodge and the Elf injures himself (smashed collar bone -1 STR). Strazos makes a hand-off and the ball is carried in a cage down a sideline.

Turn 12: I get a marker and a blitz on one of the escorting Elves, knocking him down puts a tacklezone on the ball carrier who's right against the sideline. Strazos breaks out and runs wide to the centre of the pitch in a 4 man cage.

Turn 13: I put some markers on the corners of the cage then fail a dodge to blitz the ball carrier. Strazos takes my guys down and then scores a second. I get a GUI_Submit window overlaid on my screen during this turn which I can;t get rid of and which prevents me from doing anything else. No other buttons work and I can;t move the camera. Googling for a solution doesn't help either.

Turn 14-16: I can't do anything except wait out the clock. Strazos clears a path and walks in an uncontested third TD.

The real stats though are the d6 rolls. Of 37 D6 rolls I had to make, almost a third of them came up 1s. Strazos got 6 1s out of 44 total rolls by contrast.

Actually, I purposely did not score a third TD, as I thought that'd be bad form considering the situation.

Sorry that its takes so long. We're about to start in 5 mins or so. Should be done in an hour or two.

Aaaaaand we're done. 3-0 to the other, LESSER AND OBVIOUSLY INFERIOR Dark Elves. I have a dead Lineman, Teleku has a -1ST one, and his Witch is missing next game after being fouled out.
