Thanks to a collaboration with THQ and Obsidian, Parker and Stone are writing the script, performing the dialogue, and overseeing the development of South Park: The Game. Unlike the cash-in Acclaim titles from over a decade ago, this ambitious project is a full-scale RPG for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. As the new kid in South Park, it'll be up to you to make friends and defend the town from a wide range of threats. Be sure to check out our January issue for all the details, as well as an interview with Parker and Stone themselves.

Yeah, this is kind of a head-scratcher. Even though Obsidian's gotten better at the technical and gameplay sides of things, one still typically buys an Obsidian game for the writing, so an Obsidian game that Obsidian didn't write almost strikes me as a wasted effort.

I could still be good (or at least interesting, I suppose), since I still sort of like South Park and Stone and Parker can belt out a good script as long as they keep the libertarian wankery to a minimum.

Funny. They did one of these in 1998, and it was an utterly mediocre FPS. Wait 13 years, release utterly mediocre RPG, ... profit?

I'd come in here saying it will be terrible, but after DS3 I think Obsidian can only move upward.

Based on the WoW episode of South Park, this will be entertaining at least. I think it's better that Matt and Trey are writing, voicing and overseeing the production.

I fell asleep playing the DS3 demo.  That didn't bode well.  Never got around to buying it, afraid it might kill me.

They essentially made a terrible version of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, except they used the Dungeon Siege property for the "background" of a very bad console game.  Which they then ported directly to PC.

I think it might be worth picking up for less than $5 at some point in the future, but only if you have a game pad.

IIRC, the camera was terrible, the controls were bad, the combat was meh, and the story was downright laughable.

I dunno, with Stone and Parker involved and if they make it a rated M game, this could be a bit of fun.

Very odd considering New Vegas was great. (Re: DS3)

Other things I've read says that the loot in DS3 was silly.

The only good thing DS achieved was functioning as a platform to develop Lazarus, the Ultima V remake  Heart

DS3 took suck to a whole new level.   It's almost a shame New Vegas was good.  Now people will keep giving these fools money for years.

I've actually greatly enjoyed every Obsidian game I own (which is all of them, bar DS3 because I dislike Dungeon Siege in general), so there's the chance I'll enjoy South Park as well.

Well, if you like Obsidian and didn't like the first two Dungeon Siege games, you really owe it to yourself to get DS3 right away.
