The merchanteer at the television-game store insisted that this game was based on some other, earlier games involving a burglar stealing golden pie pieces or somesuch, but I soundly beat him with my umbrella and denounced him as a fraud and a knave, for certainly the goodmen of the F13 forum-site would have written most comprehensively about such a game were it to exist!

I think if you take a look at the percentage of F13'ers who play console games, then look at the percentage of those posters that own a Wii and currently have it hooked up to their television, you'll probably start to see why nobody is talking about it here. Hell, after having messed around with the Dolphin emulator a little bit to see for myself that a) It works and seems to be continually upgraded to work with most Wii games, and b) plays said Wii games in HD, I don't think I'd be able to stand playing a game on the Wii now.

As one of the only guys to still have his Wii hooked-up and used I'll say it's too close to Christmas. The family has a buying blackout from the start of November until the holiday so we don't accidentally buy gifts we're getting (as I've done for my birthday 9 years running.. ) Then again, I also don't buy new games anymore and wait until they drop to bargain prices.

I actually quite liked Windwaker, but could never stay interested to play past the first hour of Twlight Princess (I own it). In fact, the wii is basically a netflix box at this point.

Oh, thanks for reminding me I have a per-order x-mass present to pick up.
Honestly, with the new features and such going in, like swinging your sword, I'm somewhat excited to see how this plays.

I think mine is now at a record 6 months without being so much as turned on. I didn't even hate Windwaker either, I just liked it up until I had to hunt for triforce pieces and then I punched out. First Zelda console game I didn't finish, and Twilight Princess was the second (despite it being better overall IMO for what I played).

What an exciting new feature! Yah, my Wii's been on once in the past two years I think. Just long enough to see that No More Heroes 2 was a giant letdown. I liked Ocarina of Time (except for the fucking water dungeon) and Windwaker well enough, but not enough to finish either. Last one to have that honor was Link to the Past. Still the best in the series.

My Wii has seen to the most use recently with Go! Vacation and Monster Hunter Tri Multiplayer.
The problem with the Wii is that the hardware severely hampers the gameplay. Having run Go! Vacation and Monster Hunter on my PC after getting tired of the muddy/low res textures of the Wii, I realized how gorgeous and smooth Wii games can be with proper hardware behind it.
Look up people Emulating the new Zelda demo. Looks gorgeous, especially the way they went for the DoF.

Here's the scenario in Yegoland. I seem to use my Wii infrequently, mostly due to the boy's interest in iPhone games or DS games, followed by things like Ratchet & Clank. I keep meaning to go back to Monster Hunter Tri, but when I'm in front of the TV I end up playing other things, probably because the Monster Hunter I have on PSP is also fine.
Just last week my son, who is seven, was exclaiming about upcoming game releases and he said there is a new Zelda game. I promptly frowned at him and asked just how many Zelda games he has played, or even completed, and why would he be excited about Skyward Sword? It's probably not nice to bring that down on a seven year old, but he was being a dork. I told him he can have Skyward Sword once he finishes Twilight Princess. This is also fine because he is more interested in the new Kirby game.
Me? Am I interested in Skyward Sword? Yes, but this is tempered by Dark Souls, Skyrim, and the unfinished Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask. Yes, I know, I should have completed Majora's Mask years ago. It is also tempered by me having a release-version Wii and the non-accurate wiimotes. Although if there is a Skyward Sword bundle with the doohickey that turns my wiimotes into proper-wiimotes, I might be more inclined.
Reading this thread makes me want to search for Wii emulators.
Finally, my Roku 2 means I don't have to use a Wii for Netflix like a homeless person.

Doesn't look like it's an HD reskin of Link to the Past. Skip.

Loved WW, TP seriously disappointed and never finished it.
I bought the Collector's for my kid for Christmas. I only went collectors because of the included WiiMote+ thing, which is needed to play it. We play the Wii so infrequently that I never bought them when they came out. Anyways, I think it looks fun. And it might be the last Nintendo purchase for a very long time, because I can't imagine buying the WiiU thing.

I'm with Schild on the love for Link to the Past, but I enjoyed TP right up until my kids overwrote my save just before the last dungeon. WW was probably my 2nd favorite.. loved the art direction there and the gameplay was great with all the boat stuff, though I know that's a line of division among players. (Although some of the "Sailing endlessly" stuff could have gone away a LOT sooner.)

I intend to get this at some point. However, since I'm in Canada with a Wii bought in Norway, I have to order it from back home in order to play it. Ugh. Effort. On a side-note, I hooked up the Wii to my computer monitor through a tiny gadget called Wii2HDMI to reduce the amount of effort it would take me to actually play something on the damn thing. The gadget worked wonderfully, and switching to the Wii now takes 5 seconds (stretching forward, pushing the "switch input" button on the monitor, leaning back). After setting it up I proceeded to play some five minute-sessions in various old-school games for nostalgic reasons, then went all "meh" and turned the Wii off. That was a month ago, and havent' turned it back on yet ;P Also: :P

They'll have to wait for their next generation, so at least they can call it an HD remake.

I put in a few hours yesterday, enough to go through the first dungeon, and thus far it's good. Flying around is like a less-annoying Wind Waker, with islands in the clouds that can be visited for explorin'. The ground areas don't seem to be connected in a large 'overworld' setup; all of the areas I've found so far are isolated and only accessible through portals in the sky. The control scheme is panning out well thus far, with the improved motion sensing coming into play pretty often without feeling like an empty gimmick. The one trick is that the game is surprisingly difficult in spots, to the point that I'm honestly dubious about whether a kid could pull it off. The boss of the first dungeon blocked each swing I made which confused the hell out of me until he started going on about how I was telegraphing my attacks. And I was; I would hold the remote out to my side or overhead in preparation to swing in that direction because I wasn't expecting the game to notice and counter me. It forced me to actually feint to land blows on him, which on one hand impressed me greatly, but on the other was a huge pain.
Overall it has some of Wind Waker's feel, with the exaggeratedly-proportioned NPCs, but with a less cel-shaded world and a more grown Link. I haven't played enough to say for sure whether that works or not.

When I moved earlier this year, I hooked it up, made sure it worked, and that was that. When we got another large TV so we have 2 TVs for gaming or gaming + TV, I moved the Wii to the second TV as part of the setup, made sure it worked, and that was that.
About a month(?) ago, I finally had the Wii USB ethernet adaptor thing arrive in the post. It took a month to get here. It's still sitting in my bookshelf.

Had a TV repair today and I made sure the Wii worked. It's sad when a console's UI is fuzzier than my TV's menus.

On a sort of related note:
Where are the Zelda clones? I mean, Link to the Past style games, those can't be too expensive to make, seems like something a indy studio would want to try their hands at?
Bastion was sort of like a Zelda clone (but not really, still a great game in it's own right!).
Do they exist and I just don't know about them?

Zenonia for the iOS games are damn close. I think they might be offered in other platforms, too. PS3 mini, maybe?

Darksiders would have been a superb Zelda clone if they didn't tack on the QTE crap to the monsters.

I don't even understand that. Zelda was never a nut cruncher the way Demon Souls is.

My enjoyment of the game?
I just mean, I don't see the parallels between Demon Souls and A Link to the Past, is a better way to say it. How is Demon Souls a 'Zelda Clone' ?

The special edition is supposed to be delivered soon.
Hopefully it won't be stolen off my doorstep like the last thing I ordered was.
A lot of Wii games are actually very technically impressive. I think a lot of Wii games on an emulator look better than 360/PS3 games.
