One of several documentaries that looked at the subprime mortgage collapse, "Inside Job" is a well put together and well structured look at before, during and after those events, together with a lot of interviews among both critics and defenders of what happened.

It's probably not going to bring a lot of new knowledge to the table if you followed events closely in real life, but as a clear look at the what, the why and the who it works well. The key points come from the interviews with academics who trumpet theories / authority about economic issues, but receive large cash payments from the companies / entities that they are meant to be unbiased about.
