I get the feeling Portal 2 will never dip that low in price, within the next couple years, until maybe Portal 3 comes around. 15€ would sell me easily, and is about as low as I expect it to go on sale. I do hope I'm wrong however, it's dropped down to 30€ already, likely hit 20€ at some point, then maybe an additional -50% on some sale.

Oh, that sorting thing is neat. For me:
Team Fortress 2: 199.1 hours (seems a bit low, my summed total time as each class adds up to more than that) Brink: 139.6 hours Warhammer 40k DoW Soulstorm: 131.8 hours Civilization 5: 102.3 hours Aion: 53.8 hours (weird, I had no idea this would make my top 5) GTA San Andreas: 53.7 hours Blood Bowl Split between 52.1 hours (Legendary) and 29.4 (Dark Elves)

When I got nothing to play I just load up Bad Company 2 and got into 1000 tickets server...cue 2-3 hours of see-saw battles. It's Alterac Valley-esque length made for very interesting sessions. I just wish not everyone is a tank whore or sniper campers in Heavy Metal though. That was painful.
If you can get in a vehicle that map has huge fun potential. If you can't fly and just play infantry, is it a repeated punch in the balls. Think Gulf of Oman from BF2. Actually, I love me some 500-1000 ticket games in Heavy Metal. Play as an engy and blow the shit out of some tanks, or go recon and steal the back base repeatedly while everyone is fighting over B.

There is some fun to be had with mines/rockets and C4, but the hike back into the action on foot is punitive.

No, I played it through about 4 different characters, I just didn't think it would wind-up #1. I figured I had more Civ5 time in there than I do.
Then again, Steam also wiped-out my hours played some time ago because it says I've played Half Life 2 and HE: Ep1 and Portal 0 hours and I know I've got at least FA3's # of hours in those. Witcher is way off, too.

Of course you're wrong. Every other Valve game drops in price then hits $5 sales within 18 months. They know their business model well and how to leverage it for maximum profit.

I end up living la vida loca via the Allied AA gun in the central base (the soviet one is crap). I then destroy all enemy choppers as they come out of their base and rack up the awesome.

Valve really seems to be the only distributor that's clued in on how to utilize the tail end of game sales. There's a lot of gamers out there who are only semi-casual hobbyists, or who stick mainly to certain genres that simply won't buy most titles at 50 or 60 dollars. Even 30. These distributors look at those 50-75% sales as lost money, but the fact is the majority of those purchasers were never going to buy the game otherwise. It's like impulse buys in the checkout aisle of a store. You can't lose profit on something you wouldn't have sold otherwise, it's basically just bonus money.

I am sooooo one of the "only certain genres" types. I like to think this is part of the reason I can sink an embarrassing number of hours into, say, ME2, while someone like Haemish doesn't feel like he has the time to do so partly because there are so many other things for him to play. But really the main reason is I am a bad person.

I'm trying to think if there was ANY game I bought on steam for full price (40+ dollars) that wasn't some indie game for like 10-20.

Yeah, even Deus Ex 3 I got because there was 15% off or something. Hell that's not even really a reduction as far as I'm concerned but I probably would have waited for a few months until it was on a proper sale otherwise.

I find I can always wait a few months. Thankfully the Greenman Gaming pre-order made DX3 practically half-price compared to most games. There's just not that much being produced worthy of a day-one purchase anymore.

The only games I buy in the first 6 months are MMOs. I enjoy the early arms race more than the game in most cases.

GW2 is the only MMO that's a day-one purchase for me right now.
SWTOR would only be so if I get into the beta and it wows me. I'll give it a spin when I can find it for $20 or a free trial. Nothing else on the near horizon even registers.

Double edged sword there...I love being in the first rush to see and experience everything, but you all get to suffer through all the bugs that didn't get sussed out by the rigorous 'beta test'.

I was already getting away from new purchases anyway, steam just made it easier. I don't have to constantly check amazon or EB's (probably now non-existant) pc stock for $20 deals. Civ V is the last game I paid full price for. I know over time I won't regret it, and I did enjoy my last game.
WAP, you also get the manastone and rubicite (ok, so that was the last game I was in the arms race, hah).
But stuff like Metro 2033? Wouldn't have bought that two years ago, because retail outlets generally wouldn't dump it under $20. You might get more people holding off from the initial price gouge, but I think it's more than made up by people like me that have a third of the games in their library that are titles we're never have bought for $20+ but would jump on for $5-10.

Yeah, the last few games I bought at "full price" were Empire: Total War (pre-ordered that on Steam to get the free copy of Rome: TW), FIFA 11 and Madden 11 and now 12. And with the console games, I'm usually trading in old games, so it's not completely full price. But Steam sales? By comparison to my full price purchases, I spend the shit out of things on Steam.
Tangent for yet another reason to love Steam: Went to Gamestop to buy the new Madden last night - mainly because I had 3 games to trade in and they gave an extra 30% trade-in credit if you bought a new copy of Madden - ended up paying $46 after tax for a $60 game. I felt almost compelled to commit violence on the poor girl behind the counter - and I do not believe in violence against women. No, I don't want to preorder anything. No, I don't want to pay for your Edge card. No, I don't want your free powerup rewards card. Yes, I'm supposed to get an extra 30% on these games even though you tell me that was only for preorders (which you were wrong about but I figured the register would handle it anyway). Ok fine, I will take your goddamn free powerups reward card so long as you just ring up my goddamn purchase and shut the fuck up. Ok, yes, I see where you've highlighted in pink on my receipt that I have a tournament code for Madden, a survey to fill out for a sweepstakes entry and yes I see my activation for the rewards thing. GODDAMNIT JUST GIVE ME MY FUCKING GAME!!!!!!!
She's very lucky that I'm a nice person IN PERSON, because the douchebag in my head would have been all over her.

I should go back and finish. Problem is I didn't give a shit about anything that was going on. Made it probably 90% of the way through and just couldn't bring myself to finish. And I finished Divinity 2!

40 hours? 40 if you breeze though mostly just the main quest. 70 hours is a better estimate, IMO.

I reckon I'm 3/4th of the way done, and Steam says 118 minutes played, so... That said, I'm NOT going back through DA:O again. Even if it wasn't crashing every 5 minutes, the "oh, just one TEN more things to get our race's help..." syndrome is past annoying.

You're doing it to kill the archdemon and see the FRUITS of your TREATY ENFORCING LABOR. Plus that section is totally shorter than, say, the fucking deep roads. And it's the VERY END. Do it once, for heaven's sake. Then you get the EPILOGUE.

Why aren't I on your friends list?!? :-(
Dragon Age 2 3000 hours but no New Vegas? Really?
I dunno, I can't keep track anymore. F:NV is 11th, iirc. As mentioned, Sjofn skews the bioware stuff Schild, I got in through my profile page, but it officially lives in the Recommended For You area of the Store. Click the "See All" button by Friend's Favorite Games. Then click the Lifetime button at the upper right of the list. Im in the f13 group on steam, but what do we need to do to get friended? Modified to add my Steam games Dungeon Keeper Sid Meir's Pirates Terraria Torchlight
