Two independent Canadian horror movies filling time on a couple of the movie stations that I really enjoyed, for what they were.

Pontypool -  A pseudo-zombie movie, mostly set in a Talk Radio studio in a small town in Ontario.  Interesting premise (language virus!) and good performances.

Suck - A vampire-musical comedy/horror film.  Doesn't that premise sound shitty?  Follows a small-time shitty alternative rock band at small-time gigs in Eastern Canada and New York, when one of the band members becomes a vampire.  Lots of great cameos...  Dave Foley, Iggy Pop, Henry Rollins, Alice Cooper, Moby (who is awesome as "the frontman for the biggest band in Buffalo"), the guitarist from Rush as a crazy US border guard.

The ending 20 minutes kind of falls down a bit, but it was highly entertaining.

Pontypool was ridiculously good for the low-budget thing it was. And the premise was cool as hell.

Tuned in, immediately get to watch cringey Ubisoft talking head offering her deepest sympathies to the families impacted by the Orlando shooting while flanked by a man in a giraffe suit and some sort of "horrifically garish neon costumes through the ages" exhibit or something.  We need to stop this fucking planet right now and sort some shit out. -Kail

As a huge Rush fan, this news is relevant to my interests.

Saw Pontypool. Really liked it.

I'm going to track down and read the novel, and frankly I'd love to see somebody do it as a stage play.

There aren't enough horror stage plays, and this has the philosophical chops to interest the theater-going crowd.
