You're forgiven. I remember being excited for Borderlands on PC. I always wonder what I must be missing on the consoles, since I've played near 200 hours of Borderlands on Steam (with no ini tweaks). As for SR3, like all other games of its type, it will be on console for me. Driving just never feels right on the PC, regardless of controller. For a good laugh, check out the official forums regarding the character creater. Page after page of people complaining because they took "incredibly important features" out of the game! The feature in question? Socks. It's actually complaining that they dumped the layering aspect for clothing (and replaced it with higher quality, more detailed clothing models) but everyone is fixating on socks for some reason.

You know better! I also got my money's worth out of Borderlands, after a few tweaks. Maybe 60 hours? And I think I was still on my 8800GTX at the time. Never had any problems driving on the pc with a controller, whether it's Burnout Paradise or GTA IV, which played really well (since I'm talking about SR2 in the GTA thread, heh).

I am still angry I only got the stupid censored (and) German version on a steam sale. And for the life of me I can't find the patch I used fix that.

Well, after fiddling with the character creator, I do miss the layering aspect of clothing - a lot. There are some jackets I like but would like to wear with different or no shirts beneath them, but that's not possible since it's all one piece. Earrings are both or nothing, whereas in SR2 you could select earrings individually. Same goes for shoes, gloves, and rings. Socks I don't care about, but being able to mix and match shirts and jackets is a lot more significant. Also belts - pants come with their own belts, and you can't switch one belt for another. Also, if I remember correctly, many jackets in SR2 could be worn either open or closed, but it seems these can only be worn one way.
The face creator on the other hand is great. I found it easy to make a pretty face and you can also make ridiculous faces if you want also, while in SR2 it was challenging (to put it mildly) to get a face that didn't look bad. Too much hair that leaves giant bare forehead though - I can't seem to get my forehead down to size without making the head shape all weird, and a lot of the hairs I like have some issues. Almost seems odd that they cut down on the dreadlocks hairstyles too - in SR2 there were like 8 hairstyles made up of dreadlocks, now down to 1. My SR2 character eventually wound up with the same hairstyle Shaundi had.

I'm kinda hoping the layering will be possible in the final game and that the initiation station is only for creating those background characters that roll with your crew.

Nope, it's an engine limitation. Apparently its so the game can have more people in one area. It's something like the SR2 engine had to work out all the layers (used and unused) for all the characters (player, gang, police, random victims passers-by, etc) in an area, which limited how many people it could cope with. With the SR3 engine, removal of layered clothing means more targets a more occupied world. Blame Sony and MS for not bringing out PS4/X720 by now.

They also explained that in SR2 the player shared the same model and skeleton with all the NPCs in the game. In SR3, they decided to go with unique models for the NPCs so that they could make them much more varied. Result was they needed to cut something to be able to handle large numbers on the screen at once.

I know Some days I let hope get the better of me. Anyway, I just pre-ordered from THQ. Since the game is Steamworks, you can just pop the CD key in and get the better pre-order deal (Genki's Pack and free DLC pass for 3 mission packs.)

Did that avatard show up for you guys? I got a sign-in page from work and a (n awesome) 404 page when I logged in and clicked the link. So... Just a gentlemanly contract killer. I agree it's a great way to drive account set-up and it looks like they plan to do some stuff with it after launch.

Looks more like an interior designer called Brüno to me Also if this game wasn't already a must buy about 2 months ago to me, this would pull me in like a black hole. It's as if they took the one interesting feature of CO, expanded it and are giving it away for free . Considering lack of character development/control was one of my biggest gripes with GTA4, these guys look to be making all the right moves.

Fucked around with it for 2 hours last night. Only thing I was a bit miff'd about was that the dress shirts on my male never came down to the waistline on any of the pants I wanted.

I'll put some time into the station tonight and post a character. I need to do something until Skyrim takes my mind off of this game.

11 days left. How much more can they possibly have in terms of marketing? One can only hope an infinite supply.

I don't even care how much fun the game is anymore. The marketing has been worth my entertainment dollars.

The steampunk outfits are really well done and I have a few characters built with those. Thanks for the idea... now to start in on the damsel in distress.

Holy shit, that's nuts. I thought it was cool that they were sending me a pair of sneakers. Not sure how I'd feel if I got a dildo bat in the mail.

I expected you'd feel happy that you no longer had your mail diverted to the kindergarten where you work. (NB: Joke. If you actually work at a kindergarten, I'm not stalking you; it was just a lucky guess.)

I sometimes have personal packages shipped to where I work because the mail room will sign for it and bring it up to my office.
Yeah, that would be an HR issue all right.
