Finally played some BloodBowl this weekend with Iain's Drilling and Manliness entry, Deadly Bears against Katzincsky's Lance of Vanilla humans. The Bears gave away some Bloodweister girls as inducments but it was an otherwise even match. First half was as tightly contested as the TV ratings with the Bears winning the toss and electing to kick. Being so rusty the human coach made the mistake of leaving a human blitzer within frenzy crowdsurfer range but secured the ball and set up for some good old fashioned passing. Luckily though blocks came up for the Human side and the blitzer avoided a Death Metal concert moshpit experience being pushed back by a follow up block by Iain's ghoul. A couple of more receivers got within TD range before QB1 Kirill electing to throw Long Bomb at risk of interception for a Touchdown. The Ghoul failed to intercept but the pass was off target landing in the top right corner of the field waiting for a pickup. This play had left a blitzer on the TD line and one of the Werewolfs blitzed him off the field and guarded the ball like an old chew toy. By this time the Bears had burnt all of their 3 rerolls but were 2 players out with 2 blitzers KOed and 1 waiting by the sidelines. In return the Bears key ball handler +1 Agi wolf was Knocked the fuck out for the entirety of the match. Of course rerolls are overrated and ballhandling skills are increased without rerolls so Mr Hugz makes the pick up and passes the ball to a free Ghoul who then flubs a pass to the free wights near the centre of the field. In a last ditched desperate effort players are marked man to man before QB1 Kirill goes for a pickup and throw all the while with a Wight groping for his man jewels. Having fluffed the long bomb before would he be able to make the pass under such pressure?! He does! The Bears get to counter with a blitz on the would be scorer though and simply needs to make a 2D block with Uncle Flesh Golem who has block skill against a hapless lineman before a Blitz!. However Yi the lineman is made of sterner stuff and Double skulls appear knocking the lumbering undead to the pitch! And the blitzer makes 2 GFIs with ease (and no rerolls!) to run the ball in the endzone on the 6th turn. This gives the Bears only two turns to receive and without their star Werewolf ball handler, making it a tough but doable play to equalise before the second half. The Lancers get a reroll back and manage to harry the Bears for the 2nd half to end still in the lead.  The 2nd half was a more one sided affair with the Deadly Bears caging up but not making much progress against the stalwart lineman and their loveable Idiot ogre Spain. It's not long before the constant pressure pops the ball loose and the scoreline ends up 2-0 to Katzincsky's Lancers with only 3 injuries in the match, 2 badly hurts on regenerating zombies and 1 on an unskilled lineman. The bears got a skilled zombie while QB1 Kirill got safe throw for that extra punch.  Luckton I should be around 9am Monday your time EST (11pm GMT +9 Tuesday) if I haven't collapsed into Drunken slumber by then |

Looks like you went to sleep, Llyse. No worries  Maybe later today when you wake up. In the meantime, I'm done with my kid's appointment, relocated my PC to the living room's 46" LED, and I'm ready to rock against anyone that wants to work on a team as well. I'll be playing WoW in the meantime. |

Llyse and I had our match afterall It went about as well as I expected, especially vs. Skaven. The Skaven ran circles around the Norse, the +1 AGI blodging gutter runner basically carried the game, and much of the Norse's armor was broken, but mostly stunned results. Still, the Norse and I had fun for our inaugural outing; my sole Runner managed to toss the ball successfully for a point before getting a MNG, and one of my werewolves got MVP. That's. About. It.  |

Yeah apologies on the MNG, my team is pretty shattered as well, I only had 1 Stormvermin and had 2 loner linerats. Thanks to that game though I now have a shiny new Stormvermin to become injured but that's a rat's life. Pretty much what Luckton said but at least his werewolf is 1 spp from BLOCKRAGE. Tokyo Drifto only need 2 more games to qualify for the Master's League so more games this weekend are welcome! |

Also, fuck Nuffle for double Attacker Down dice showing up no less than 6 times, and fuck Cyanide for allowing a level 5 Gutter Runner get perma-injured, apoth reroll to Badly Injured, and then just lets him play the rest of the match anyways.  <- Actually did this after the match was over...I need an aspirin now. |
