Hrm. Netdragon are the guys who did Zero Online. I'm not sure how I feel about a Transformers MMO cobbled together by a... MMOG mill?

You should feel about the same as an action movie mill getting a hold of the franchise...

I wonder if this title will join the ranks of the Tom and Jerry MMO, the Ben 10 MMO and other IPs that have been snapped up and never appeared.

There are two. The one by Jagex is coming out in NA, and the one by Netdragon is china only, and seems to have... transformed ( why so serious?) into an FPS.

Both seem to take their robot designs from Prime, which means that no one has any noses. Which is a teensy thing, and bugs the fuck out of me.

:shocker:

Probably for the best as an MMO would only be a repeat of SWG where everyone plays {genericautobot} or {genericdecepticon} and everyone bitches on the forums because they dont get to kill {insertcanoncharacter} and nothing they do really matters with respect to the cartoon or Michael Bay

One of the guys at my office is headed to Jagex to become the new Lead designer. He's a former EQ2 and APB designer so make of that what you will.

I assume its completely browser based.

Also, I applaud Jagex in overcoming the fear of texture memory use.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

Probably in the same way Battlestar Galactica Online is?

It's not even an MMG anymore. They switched it to a MOBA to cash in.

It pains me to remember that this is still a MUCH better deal than the 500$ gold 'mechs.

Worth over? It's worth more than. Over is positional. If they can't even have someone copy-edit their ads I'm guessing the game will have the same attention to detail.

RL friend of mine said it was similar to Mechwarrior's battles/skirmishing, except with Transformers instead of mechs. He also told me that there was probably 30 to 1 Autobots, so matchmaking was even worse than Mechwarrior. Other than this, his only description of it was "meh".

Even the website looks very similar to the mechwarrior one.

It's not really like Mechwarrior.  It reminds me more of Slave Zero if anyone remembers that.

You have three weapons, with alternate attacks for special effects, and three buffs that sometimes have a synergy with the weapons.  Robot mode is slow.  It has a jump but isn't very high.  Vehicle mode lets you move much more quickly, and transforming between the two lets you navigate obstacles as you jump pretty high to transform.

Free Roam has rotating missions with NPC targets.  (Pretty much it's the tutorial zone recycled.)  PvP I haven't tried yet but unless there are rotating objectives I can't see it being that interesting.  Maybe they'll surprise me by doing that.

It's a lot more like Smite than anything else, definitely not like MechWarrior at all.

All he said were that the skirmishes and battles were like Mechwarrior's. Not that they were similar games, just that the battles were. The matchmaker was the main thing he mentioned, and how he selected an Autobot, but with the skewed teams, waited like 40 mins for the matchmaker before just giving up. It was totally hearsay, and I didn't say the games were alike, just that the battle/skirmish was.
