Today, InstantAction informed employees that it will be winding down operations. While we are shutting down the InstantAction.com website and Instant Jam game, Torquepowered.com will continue to operate while InstantAction explores opportunities with potential buyers for Torque. We thank all of our past and current customers for their support.

Really sad to see it go. I really love this engine.

Both names sound familiar. What were they involved in?

Indie games, mostly.

Torque is a retooling of the engine used in Tribes 2, if I recall correctly.  Garage Games was the product of an exodus from Dynamix right after the release of T2, and brought the engine with them or something.  It had a special license for low budget companies and was therefore a fairly popular engine for low budget / no budget game development.

InstantAction I'm not sure about.  I think it was kind of like a cheap digital destribution system for indie titles.

Instant action was just their system allowing torque games to be played on the web iirc.

I assume torque will still be around.

The stuff they were able to do with Instant Action was pretty impressive. They put Tribes into my browser, was rad.

there was GG redname on here for a bit.  All I remember was him losing it once in Politics over him being a Special Forces vet or something.

Apparently, GG has a new owner and isn't going away.  TorqueX is being discontinued, but other then that everything else is staying relatively the same (supposedly)
