And in other, other news, AOL is apparently tired of blog journalism and is shutting down Massively and Joystiq on February 3rd, mentioned on the former today in a post that was immediately buried under random newsposts and the latter not at all.

Websites like that shut down paper magazines. What is shutting them down? Twitter?

Can Gawker shut down next? That'd be great.

You wish. These days Gawker is a "legit" news source. I've even seen the fuckers cited in local evening news stories.

Yes, that terrifies me, too.

Deadspin is part of that whole thing, which I like.

But yeah it's insane how legit they've become from a media standpoint.

Yeah, Massively was the only mmo news site that didn't suck donkey balls (and occasionally had good content, even). Oh well.

I actually liked Joystiq's RSS feed. Not for quality or anything, but it was one place that consolidate games news in one place that wasn't a eyefucker like Kotaku.

Massively is pretty terrible also. Anything that's good in gaming journalism is only "good" relative to the total shit of its competitors.

The events that happen in gaming are so insignificant, honestly only kids froth over it. It's celebrity gossip and uncritical wanking over some overblown tech or personality news development.

I wonder if the people who work gaming simply couldn't cut it in the real world, like a rock band that makes music for children.

Cynical today! I'm in the right place.

Bought that yesterday. It's pretty fun. You can make some pretty crazy machines, but most of the time I just get them blown up. Which is also fun in its own way.

Ready to dump some money on the remake of Ultima Underworld, by Origin Veteran and author of the originals Paul Neurath?

I backed it earlier today when I came home from work, it was at ~50k then. Now it's past 100k. Not bad for the first day.

Considering Ultima Underworld II  is my favourite CRPG ever, I think I might back this one (all praise Paul Neurath)  why so serious?

Speaking of whom (?), I would back up even quicker a proper remake of Space Rogue.

I've been tooling around with mobile games since getting my Android.

An updated Theme Hospital or porting over that Prison Management game would be great for the platform. I could not see the power of Hearthstone when I was on the project until it was released for tablets.
