I'll probably try it if it recognizes my video card this time. I tried installing my girlfriend's copy of Sims 3 on my system to give it a whirl but no dice. Googling the stupid error gave tons of people with the problem and no verifiable solution.  swamp poop

Looks fun

That's the first thing I thought.  Imagine that...  a medieval fantasy game set in a persistent world that was actually fun. Unpossible!

I wonder if you have to join a 40 person raid to get a trophy wife?   why so serious?

Despite having an attention span of about 2 days for Sims games, I still get excited for them. Doubly excited for this one because it's not the same formula.. I think.

I stopped caring about the Sims games sometime around the second Sims expansion but the prospect of building castles and running a little kingdom intrigues me.

So they finally made Sims for Boys?

Edit: Dammit. Now that I've watched the trailer I do want to play this...I'm just going to have to keep telling myself 'Wait 5 years, they'll have the Big Super Combo GOTY pack for sale on Steam'.

Hah, EA knows better than that. They haven't even had that kind of sale on Sim 3 yet. For some reason serious simmers buy the game at release. That's what I did - although I think I got the best deal EA ever let out when I bought all 3 expansions off Impulse between Christmas and New Year's.

They did, just last week, when they launched The Sims 3 on Steam - there some some kind of crazy bundle that had the base game, the 3 expansions and some of the random crap packs for circa $80 (about 50% off purchase price).

And yeah, I'm looking forward to this one.

There's two fantasy-medieval games coming out in March: this and DA2. One of these games lets you play fascinating characters, tells epic stories that are personally meaningful, and ensures that your choices have a real, tangible effect on the game world. The other one is Dragon Age 2.

Oh SNAP!

(Sadly I was thinking that before I got past "fascinating characters".)

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

Yeah, right when he said "One of these two games" I knew the other would be DA2.

March can't come soon enough. Until then I just have Test Drive Unlimited 2.

Is TDU2 out already? I thought it was delayed until April or something. I've been watching it with curiousity. Perhaps we should have a thread on it.

Does it play well with keyboard & mouse, or do you need a gamepad? Or a wheel/pedal setup?

I'll be getting this (of course I'll be getting this) but a little, annoyed part of me wants to wait two years for it to come out on Steam.

For some reason this sounds like it would be a lot of fun, but I'm unsure at how it will actually translate to the overall gameplay.

I'm sure it will improve upon the Guild II

Looks kind of like a toy version of The Guild? Which is a game that could definitely stand some toy-ifying.

If this sells well, I expect the next Sims will be science fiction-themed. Instead of the population of a town, you manage the crew of an O'Neill Island or generation starship.

Hey, I can dream.

It's very ... bad at getting you to understand what the hell is going on. Once you sort of get it, it's fun, but it can be really goddamn infuriating. I haven't played it for a while and I'm reluctant to do so only because it means I'll have to hunt down forum posts that tell me things like how to place a goddamn field for a goddamn farm. Ingmar informed me that this is normal for European games. So now I hate Europe.

You absolutely have to do the tutorial for the Guild II, and the tutorial sucks.

Yeah, I did the tutorial and still had to dig for a FAQ in English that would tell me about, oh, everything. Of course, at that point it was the principle, so by God I was going to play this goddamn game! And it turned out once I halfway knew what was going on, I rather liked it. But I was starting to feel very "I WANT TO LOVE YOU, WHY WON'T YOU LET ME GET CLOSE," before that point.  why so serious?

Er, to sum up: If this is like the Guild only not an asshole about telling you how things work, it should be pretty good!

Keyboard is.. ok. Obviously it's not the best method to drive a vehicle. I'm looking to find a wheel because I hear it's the best way to play the game. No idea about gamepad, though I hear complaints. Probably from 360 users though because they say there are no options for modifying the controls.

Okay, so this game is out today in the US/Canada. The internet takes a while to cross oceans, so most of Europe seems to get it tomorrow/Wednesday whilst the UK gets it either Thursday or Friday.

I've seen some mildly positive rumblings from the few places that've had reports on it. Anyone here take the plunge?

I will be as soon as EA lets me download it, which should be in a couple of hours as far as I can tell.

Make sure they haven't shipped your copy. Apparently some people who pre-ordered the digital version are having physical copies shipped to them whether they like it or not.

I ordered a physical copy because I'm like that. It should be waiting for me when I get home.

Of course, Spring Festival starts in LotRO today, and iBlack Prophecy just released (if I can get it to work)...

Has EA come to its' senses and started to allow unlimited downloads from the store yet? At one point they only let you download for like six months after your purchase and I resolved never, ever to buy anything there because of that.

I've downloaded games from them a good deal past that before but yes, their support site states the same one year minimum.

Why would they cripple their online store like that? Are they really that out of touch with what customers expect?
