If I saw someone with that tattoo (especially a fresh tattoo) I'd hit them on the arm over and over again. When they complained, I'd just say I was just mining IRL.

Minecraft Beta 1.4

* Added tameable wolves
* Added cookies
* Sleeping in a bed now resets your spawn position
* New Minecraft logo
* Holding shift while climbing will hang on to the ladder
* Spiders will no longer trample crops
* Lots and lots of infrastructure for Statistics lists and Achievements

While most of the code is written, statistics and achievements won’t show up until the next update. We didn’t quite have time to finish them this week, and didn’t want to delay the update longer.

The dogs are way more adorable then they have any right to be.

They are also very useful, especially if you get a little pack of them going. I got up to five so far.

Didn't Notch say he was going to give you an option to not update or did I miss that implementation?

Edit: Why yes indeedy I did miss it.  You have to download the .exe again.  I figured it would be updated like the rest of the game *shrug*

They spawn in forest biomes.  So, is over the river and through the woods to find them.

I live on a medium sized island that is completely torched up, with no other light sources inside the mob spawn radius, so at night it turns into a barnyard.

Apparently Dogs will get wet, Farms will be watered, and fires will be put out. Possibility of a + to fishing in the rain. ( From what I read on the various twitter accounts )

EDIT: oh, and of course snow and water refreezing in ice biomes.

Well, here comes the weather, but where's the Nether?

I really want that implemented for fast travel and possibly linking between servers.

I am with you. But i guess this is the easier fish to fry.

My understanding with the neither is it needs it own process, its not a separate thread. Its a shut down of one world, and a loading of another. This poses challenges in a multiplayer environment.

I don't recall it not working. Some texture packs do make the bobber hard to read. I have been fishing for many months now. Size of water does matter however.

Outer walls finally finished with the exception of some interior decoration and a few other small spots.  Thanks Geist for updating the map!

What's the thickness of the walls?

You going to just pave everything over, or keep the interior lit as a massive green zone?

Walls are a shell.  16 blocks wide, 1 block thick (14 block interiors), most of the walls are 32 blocks high, and most towers have additional 16 high levels (corner towers +16+12) yada yada.

You can see it's gridded off, each square is a 64x64 blocks, 18 squares to a side.  So I've finished off the outer perimeter of squares, the next inner perimeter will be dug down to 16 blocks below sea level, and so on until bedrock, after that I dunno yet.  There will be a dome/sphere in the middle and a lava field, but beyond that I'm not sure.

lol, feel free.  All I got for right now is a whole lot of digging and placing in chests.  Though, there is plenty of space available for houses and other structures.  I'm planning on stone structures to the south, farmland stuff to the east, rice paddy-esque to the north, and some desert motif for the west.  I really wish the nether would be implemented.  It's a bitch to get to atm.

11/11/11

We had a board meeting today, which felt relatively grown up and mature. We had it at a nice asian restaurant, and there was food, drinks and coffee. Carl held a nice presentation, showing the progress of the company, and we discussed and voted about various details on where to go and what to do. The most relevant parts for Minecraft is that we decided to bring in bug fixing into the development method in a more clear way so that people working customer support can add them as tasks for us, and that we finally set a release date for Minecraft.

It’s a bit tricky to really do a release for Minecraft as we keep updating it all the time. For one, the version we deem as the “full version” won’t be very different at all from what the game was like a week ago, and we’ll keep adding features after the release as well, so it’s really more of a milestone when we finally get rid of the Beta label, and some kind of goal for us to work towards. The plan is to be open with this and try to get people to cheer us on as much as possible, but to be open with the fact that the game won’t change much at the actual release day. (It’s more a progress up until that point)

We picked November 11, with the unofficial tagline “us too”.

It’s the same date as a few other games and movies, and the one I’m the most excited about is Skyrim, so that will be a nice reward for me if we actually manage to hit that date!

And, in case you want an update on Minecraft:

We’ve been working on finishing up Achievements and Statistics for 1.5, I ran into some issues with JSON, got frustrated, and added weather instead. Developing new features like that is what I enjoy doing the most, so I ended up covering a lot of ground. There’s periodic downfall (snow in snowy areas, rain in others, nothing in deserts) that make the sky darker, hides the sun, moon and stars, and makes everything wet. Ice grows back in cold regions, and snowfall covers the ground when it’s snowing. During rain/snow, there can be occasional thunderstorms with lightning. I haven’t finished the actual lightning bolt yet, but everything else is fairly done.
Once the stats are done and the weather has been tested through, we’ll release 1.5. I’m guessing this will be next week. The piston mod might get added, but it will not be in time for 1.5.

He doesn't need to light it up as a green zone if it is on the f13 server, there are no monsters.

I'm obviously quite late to the party, and bought this last night. Depending on which port I try, when I try to connect to the server I get errors about mismatched version, or just a general cryptic error. Is my version busted, or is the server out of date? My client says 1.4_01

About a week or so ago.  I rolled back my version to 1.3 which I found on the minecraft forums.  1.5 will be out soonish too.
