Oh shit, I think this is the same asshole who was using some exploit that Valve never fixed to fuck with Garry's Mod servers and make a few mods with smaller communities (namely the Empires Mod) nearly unplayable.

He would find the servers with people actually playing, come in and kick everyone/lag it all to hell and put up Admin messages saying PLAY ON MY SERVER (which sucked).

Snow has been in the game for a while.  Just in single player you either get snow world or normal world period.  The new thing is that these will coexist in the same maps.

Like Malakili said, snow has been around for awhile and there does seem to be 2-3 different types of snowfall.

Helpful beginner tip: If you get all ambitious and dive right down to the lava on your second play session, make sure you craft yourself an iron pick. Gold, diamonds, and redstone can be cleared with a stone pick, but you won't get any yield unless you use an iron or diamond pick. I had to look that one up.

I logged into the F13 server briefly, and started running around to look at the work that people have done on there. After about a half-dozen restarts, I gave up and went back to single-player. My client kept crashing on the F13 server, and always when I was moving, so I wonder if it was related to loading a new piece of the world, or something.

There's also a nasty java/socket error with certain ethernet cards/drivers - haven't gotten to the bottom of it yet.  Some of us simply can't play multi yet.  /sadface

As an additional note to this, it's probably best to set the Draw to 'Tiny' in the options before logging
in, especially if it's the first time. =)

Once you've wandered away from the spawn point in most any direction, save maybe the dome, you can usually turn it back up to Short or Normal and wander back through it.

Minecraft.net is down, is the patch out and the massive connection attempts to update causing a crash?  Or just general hysteria because the patch is do out this evening?  Either way, is the server going to be reset and updated tonight assuming it actually comes out and is accessible given the large amount of traffic?

I was able to down the new version for my mac, but not for pc (just connection issues with minecraft.net).   Unfortunately playing it  my laptop is less than tolerable, so I'm trying to connect to the website on my other machine...

I've grabbed the PC version, but I'm also on laptop that is barely tolerable (visiting my daughter in Atlanta this weekend). I've run around in Single Player a bit, seen some biomes, Pumpkin blocks, and the neat pink/red sky at sunrise/sunset ...
