Mine carts work fine, its just that they have no prediction, so its jerky when the update ticks come down, same with boats. Reappearing blocks was fixed a while ago, however it does still happen, extremely rarely on my server.

Being able to burn out my trees is extremely satisfying.  Even with leaf decay back I enjoy being a pyro!

Have not had that one bother me for a while.  Even furnaces seem to work properly.

If you just want to practice messing around I'd try the single player out first.  Multiplayer is neat but the bugs are annoying (especially lag-related issues, at least last time I played) and you have to be mindful of other people's stuff and what things will mess with performance and that sort of thing.

All of your SMP complaints are long gone.

huh?  'splain

Every reply since my post has summed it up.

Generally there aren't many big issues with SMP anymore.

Technically it's SMP in that you have to survive the boredom. Rimshot

This entire post in the Mincraft forums really kind of makes me question Notch. Esspecially the feeding birds video. Without even having the code this guy was able to figure out how to add these things, yet it takes Notch how long to add something new into the game? Wat?

Single VS. Multi player. Entire game platform VS. a Mod to said platform. But yeah.

Notch is probably too busy counting his money these days to be like the coder he used to be.  Can you blame him though?
Also, it's pretty much a given that if he fully completed SMP that his game would likely go off the charts in sales...  Gotta bet he's smart enough to set himself up for a payday before he flips the switch fully.

Arent there any pubbies courting this guy btw?  It's a safe bet he'd get pressure from them, even if unsigned, to slow releases until they flesh out a deal.  At what point does The Greed take him over?

He banked a crazy amount of money and wanted to work on whatever he wanted.

It's a good thing his pride is bigger than his ego.
I get a good laugh reading his blog and how he talks about his office, staff, meetings, voting, etc.   why so serious?
He does have a good sense of humor.

It'll be interesting to see what happens once he starts this year's convention circuit.  People seem to change when they leave the cubicle and start wine and cheesing it up with booth girls and angel investors.

p.s.
When we gonna get a real SMP server?  Any plans?  Reason I'm asking, I'll start my own if there arent any.

I'm completely ignorant about running servers.

How hard would it be to set up and maintain a family multiplayer world running on the household LAN?
