Just wondering how much extra crap has been released for ME2 at this stage?

DLC and suchlike - and if anyone has any idea how much/when it may be planned?
(I've been avoiding all ME2 media, to avoid spoilers)

There is also the ME2/Bioware DLC page.

Was thinking of buying this sometime soon, but will hold off for the goty version. I still haven't finished the first one anyway, so no rush.

The only downloads worth the bother are the two extra companions. The rest is just filler that doesn't need to exist.

If they did release a GOTY version (which Bioware hasn't done so far although it wasn't until DA that they've had any games with a large amount of DLC) I imagine it would be the full price of a new game.  I don't know what the price is where you are, but in the U.S. at least ME2 is already at half price.  It would likely be cheaper to pick up the game and Kasumi, Overlord, and upcoming Liara DLC packs (the only paid ones which have story content, and even then Overlord could be skipped without missing much) than it would be to pick up a GOTY version should one be released.

For Xbox 360 there was a GOTY edition of ME1 (at the time, the only DLC released was Bring Down the Sky) back in Jan or Feb '09. The price of the ME1 GOTY was ~$20 on it's release, which was 1.5 years after release of ME1. It's not tough to think that a goty edition for ME2 would come out but it's just a matter of time. I'd guess it would be $30-$35 (best guessing that price), but given the popularity of ME2 I can't see it coming out anytime soon and wouldn't expect it for another year or so while EA keeps riding that DLC money train until ME3 comes out. Just best guessing that based on the estimated 2012 release date of ME3 if they stick to the release ~2 years or so.

I do agree that ME2 is already cheap enough to buy now, but I'd wait until November (<3 Steam/Amazon holiday sales) if you're in no big hurry....the holidays are upon us faster than most of us probably realize.

I think you'd be hard pressed to consider that a GOTY edition.  It was a Platinum Hits release and Bring Down the Sky was probably included simply to bring it in line with the PC version which already included it for free.

Waiting til November is a bad idea because there's nothing good out now, and plenty of stuff coming out for the holidays.

No harm waiting. As I said, I haven't finished ME1, Part 2 is just going to get cheaper, and my backlog pile is taller than I am.

While I agreed that was barely an improvement over the original release, to say it wasn't or won't be done just seems off when a GOTY with a bunch of DLC seems like a great way to make more money off of ME2 a few months before ME3 comes out.

Personally, I agree with you as I know I'll be a busy gamer over the late fall/winter and right now is a little bit of a dead spot (except for SC2), but Az gives the impression that he is patient and looking to buy as cheap as he can and not worry about when he gets to them. That's why I'd say wait till the holiday sales, especially since he's not ready to play it just yet.

Dunno if we'll see a GotY edition any time soon. DLC is still coming out. Just last night we got another weapons pack (and the Mattock rifle really does fill a need some classes have had). We also know there is storyline content coming out (Lair of the Shadowbroker) and it's been stated there'll be direct bridge DLC leading to the release of ME3.

I"d buy the best deal when you're ready to play. You might be waiting for an ME2 GotY edition well into release of ME3.

This is true. I went through a phase around the end of the year 2008 and a bit beyond of buying everything on release, and then not getting around to playing them. I've not started buying recent-ish released when they start hitting the discount wall. Still unopened/essentially unplayed but bought at full price: GTA4, GTA4 DLC, Dead Space, Ninja Gaiden II, Lego Batman, Lego Indy 1, GH5, RE5, and so on and on it goes. I've stopped throwing money at these games when they're new, since I likely won;t get around to playing them for awhile, with the exception of things I will play right now.

Anyway, gotta run off to work, which is what lets me afford all this shit and conversely not play them...

I dare say me2 will be practically given away as a promo for me3 when the time comes. Otoh, the game is already cheaper than a round of drinks - and the likelihood of any future dlc being worth a damn is close to zero.

Last I looked ME2 was still up for $80 in the local Australian EB. Azazel could probably get it cheaper than that, but Australia tends to see game prices drop at a lower rate than the US.

ME2 is 30 bucks on Steam, apparently they've lowered the price as of today/recently.

Still AU$70/$80 on Steam though. Unfortunately we don't get to choose to play in USD (unless it's a gift? or really old).

I buy almost nothing locally these days. UK FTW! I can pick it up for about £16.99 (about AU$30) with free shipping to my door.  DRILLING AND MANLINESS  But hey, no rush.
