Could someone please help me with this issue?
There's this girl that I dated way back when I was in my teens. She is an awesome person and really fun to know. She recently contacted me via facebook and I somehow lost her message (her message just disappeared and I didn't get a chance to friend her). I know her name, but when I type her name into the Friends search it doesn't bring her up. I have done the search various times, but still haven't found her to no avail and I know she didn't delete her facebook. I've tried spelling her name various ways and everything, but haven't had any luck yet.
You guys have any advice on how to find this person?

Wow, this is all types of creepy.
How do you know she didn't delete her facebook if you can't find her ?

Also, with the new security settings, she could have set herself to non-searchable.
It's a good way to stave off creepy people from your past who you want to avoid.

If she was interested enough to send you a message, she will be interested enough to read a facebook update from you about losing her message.

But he said she contacted him first which would imply she wanted to be FB friends.
If she's not showing up on the searches though, not sure what else you can do to find her, especially if you're using the current name. Maybe search via school affiliation or maiden name if you've not done that yet.

This will only work if he makes it all kinds of public. I certainly wouldn't want to open my status up to a public cry for help for a woman to please God find me. ... Again.

IT'S A TRAP! She's like a terrorist or something! Or maybe not. There are ways you can phrase a "please resend message" without sounding like a total loser.

This just sounds odd, if she sent you a message, the message is still in Facebook. Even if she "deleted" her profile. This sounds more like she friended you through the "Find your friends" feature and then realized she didn't want that friend. As to how to find her now, you're asking on the internet.

Like Ironwood said, she probably has her privacy settings set where her profile cannot be found or even seen by a non-friend. Do you have any mutual friends you could ask if they have her friended?

How about joining the school group then checking all the people in it to see if someone has her listed on a profile as a friend? Also found this There is a way of recovering deleted facebook messages. In order to recover a facebook conversation: You must receive email notifications from facebook, telling you when someone sent you a message. Ex. Paul Wilson sent you a message on facebook Click on that link. If you have already deleted the notification, go to your deleted messages inbox (gmail, yahoo, hotmail). It's impossible to completely remove something from a computer! At the bottom of the message, you will see a link, click on the link that says : To reply to this message, follow the link below : ex. http://www.facebook.com/inbox.php?lh=0e5633de8d92e7fab7145ffc710260dc&then click on : SHOW DELETED THREAD.

At that point, you may as well use 123, admit you have a problem and start wearing a duffel coat.

If you completely private profile your name can't even be seen in other's friends' lists. The only way they make themselves visible is by sending a message or friending that particular person.

No lie.

You can try a google search "site:www.facebook.com John Doe" and it will sometimes pick up their name via one of their friend's public page.
Happy stalking!

She had quite a few friends when I first looked at her profile (from work PC). I meant to get back to her with a message, but somehow the message went poof (not sure if I deleted on accident). I checked my email for the facebook message stating there is was a message, but I think I disabled that feature as it was spamming my email to all hell and back. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't want to not friend me since we have been friends for awhile. We just fell out of communication after I moved twice in literally 2 years time. I'll try that search on google idea... the setup you had. I tried google searching, but my results sucked. Well here's for trying. Thank you for the suggestions. I'll keep trying.

Searching on FB is kind of like searching on F13. You type in all the relevant keywords, and you get back a bunch of chaff, if you get anything at all.
Example: I recently got an old high school classmate added to my friends list in FB, but only because she was friends-of-friends first, so her name would pop up in that damned suggestion box on the sidebar. Prior to adding her as a friend, when I tried typing her name into the search thing, I'd get no results.
Maybe she had her profile shut down for privacy, but that search engine of theirs sometimes comes back with results that have nothing to do with what you typed in. I think they've got something written there that's beyond their actual capabilities as programmers.

If you aren't telling us the whole creepy story, friend requested her and she "ignored" your request. Then you sir, are now blocked.
