Find a good golf course. Become a caddy. Make decent money and learn how to carry on conversations with anybody.
Apply for your grad school while you do that.

Firefighting is interesting work with little barrier to entry if you can find a place where your training costs are covered by your department or by the municipal/state/provincial/federal/reserve government. If you're smart, wear your breathing apparatus, and wash your hands thoroughly after a call you won't even die of ass cancer at 65.

Oh, I hear a lot of strippers are working their way through college too. It seems pretty popular!

Nebu had great advice, but as his polar opposite in many ways I'd be remiss in my duties if I did not point out that it is possible to be financially successful without a college degree. I'm not going to say that it is easier, or that you can do whatever you want, but it is possible. Find what you like to do and see if you can make money doing it. Otherwise see if you can like what you make money doing. If you enjoy what you make money doing, you won't work a day in your life.
Assuming that you are intending to enter a field that requires a formal education, then do what Nebu says. Do not, however, rack up $76k in student loans to get a Master's in Fine Art from a fancy school, especially if you don't have any other marketable skills.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Yeg's advice may be somewhat late in this case.

Fuck flossing, this calls for another beer.
I just spent $120 for a temporary filling. This is on top of the fact that my dentist turned to me and said "We'll have to spread this across a year. You don't have enough insurance." PROTECT YOUR FUCKING TEETH.

My outlook on student loans is I'll take them if I need to, because hey, how bad can being poor forever be? Seriously, I know debt is bad but I've never heard a student loans ruined my life story the way you hear with credit cards, etc. Not to say it hasn't happened, but I really don't like spending money I haven't earned and I trust myself to manage a little debt appropriately. I'm sure my perspective will change if/when I actually do go into debt, but such is life.

nothing wrong with student loans. I just say be careful. Particularly with for profit colleges.

I took whatever I felt I needed with student loans, with the assumption that the degree would allow me to do something later to make paying them off not a big deal.
If you end up going through school successfully, but are unable to get your loans taken care of...then the monthly payment may be the least of your problems.

Nothing bad with a student loan at all. The interest is pretty good and they have very friendly deferment clauses for when you aren't going to be able to pay promptly. The negative is that you have that monthly monkey on your back for a long time. It took us a decade to pay down my wife's student loans. It wasn't a horrible debt as far as debts go, but it was a debt.

My hope is to be debt free within 5 years. Too bad I'll probably need to buy a vehicle next year.

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.
