I'm really not in love with the way Mass Effect plays on my PC. Looks bad too (what's up with the damn texture pop in).
Ohh well, only $5 to find this out. Looks like ME2 might be an xbox purchase.

Steam ME won't even run on my machine, it just hangs at the B I O W A R E rotating letter logo screen. New machine, newest drivers, etc. If it wasn't for Lum's preview saying the controls for ME2 suck on the Xbox I wouldn't really be concerned.

There's some huge note on the purchase page that if you run with UAC enabled, you need to run all of steam as admin, or some shit. I picked it up and it's running happily on Win7, but I was wondering why I kept seeing you start/stop playing it over and over. I will say the Mako's controls are far worse on the PC than xbox. Which I didn't think was humanly possible.

I found that when I upgraded my machine in the middle of last year and put ME back on it that it ran like complete and utter shit (as in taking ~6 minutes to merely get to the 'Press Any Key' bit to reach the main menu) and resolved it by closing out a Power DVD process that tended to start everytime I booted into windows. It when from utter shite performance wise to running as it should; ME was also the only game with the issue.

That doesn't surprise me. ME used to do weird things with my CD Drive until I was patched up to 1.02.

I'll try looking at those types of services. Kildy, as an IT worker you should be ashamed of suggesting that UAC wasn't stopping me until I got to the startup movies.

Have we still got one more day left for the sale? The timer confuses me, unless they're ending the sale at 9am or something Western time on Monday. 12 Eastern?

Which sale? The Trine/RA3/etc. sale ends today at 9:00 AM Pacific Time. Given the wording it looks like the general publisher sales end sometime on or after midnight January 4th.

Hey, there's no logical reason that some DVD process would kill Binx! It's not like the same app isn't called by every game ever made! Anywho, I had no issues with UAC, but found it funny that the steam store page is all "zomg, if you use Vista or 7, run this as administrator!!!!!"

Right now I'm looking at Indigo Prophecy, the Borderland's DLC and Dues Ex GOTY for general sale purchases. Didn't see much else that hadn't already been on 1 day sale.

Ok, last day of the 24 hours sale. It's a "reprise" of older deals, basically:
L4D 2 - € 25.45 Bioshock - € 4.99 Killing Floor - € 4.49 GTA IV - € 7.49 Torchlight - € 3.99 (BUY IT...Err, well, I think everyone in here already did, actually) Defense Grid: The Awakening - € 2.25 Stalker: SoC - € 2

This is god, god is telling you to buy Torchlight.
I'm tempted to rebuy Bioshock to avoid having to locate the DVD again. L4D2 could be $10 and I still wouldn't buy it however.

I'm already bored of Torchlight, heh.
Thinking of getting GTA IV, Witcher, Been there Dan that, Oddworld, Secret of Monkey Island, LucasArts Adventure Pack, Jedi Knight Collection and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory.

How good is the GTA port to pc? It may not be the best game but I'm thinking $7.50 is too good a price to pass up.

Sigh, I'm still torn between Borderlands and Batman for my last purchase.
Also, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, or Double Agent? Each is sold for 4.99 on Steam.

I got the jedi knight collection for $10. That's a steal. 5 games, 3 of which are really fun. Playing the force unleashed (thank god I didn't buy it) just made me want the better, older games, and steam did not disappoint.
Also, torchlight for $5, because damn.
Sorting the "$10 or less" by metacritic score shows me about 20 games that I'd buy if I hadn't already played and enjoyed them. I hope they do a sale like this every year.
In the WTF category, Doom 2 is $10.

I liked it. Not quite as good as the last one, lacks a little character. Learn how to turn off your cell phone ringer and it's a fun game. My computer is three years old and it runs great. Don't expect to max the sliders, look up the console defaults and start there, bump them up a little until performance suffers. Game looks good, runs fast. I used a 360 controller to play it.

See, I actually liked it more than San Andreas. I think its a bit truer to GTA 3 or Vice City. People do call your cell phone in game to do stuff all the time, but I just ignored most of it and only did that quests I wanted to, no big deal to be honest, I think too much fuss is made about that. Less RPG elements, more driving around and shooting stuff (than San Andreas). Also, Free for All multiplayer is shenanigans fun. I bought it when it was on a lesser sale at some point and feel it was worth my money.

It's fun for a short while then gets boring very fast, at least it did for me. Accept my friend invite on Steam and I may join you for a few games though, I haven't played it for a while. I'm already bored of Torchlight, heh.
Yes! I'm not the only one! I played through it quickly (on very hard), had no problem and as a whole found it boring. Now I just need to figure out what games I want to buy today before the sale ends...without going broke. Bhodi's post sold me on X3, never played Bioshock..hmm..

Is the Witcher and Chronicles of Riddick worth picking up? I keep going to buy them and then stop myself for some reason.

The Witcher is the best use of a Bioware Engine since Planescape.
Riddick is just fantastic.

Too many great deals. I ended up picking up Machinarium, Trine, Star Wars: KOTOR, Trine, BioShock, Killing Floor, STALKER.
Kinda want to go back for more.

Totally. One of those "short, sweet and fun" games I mentioned in a earlier message.

If you liked Zombie Panic then you'll probably love this game, as its essentially just surviving against waves of Zombies Infected Specimens.

Oh - I didn't see the Max Payne series come up - unless they are unavailable to Australia.
My list looks pretty similar to yours otherwise - plus I'm still hedging over getting Witcher.
