I was listening to "Got My Mind Set On You" by George Harrison this AM and couldn't help thinking that the song was probably written by McCartney and given to Harrison as a bone. It really sounds like a McCartney tune. Or Harrison just plagiarized it again from something McCartney was working on.
Weird Al's parody basically comes down to something similar, that he just phoned it in, etc. I remember that considerably more than the original song itself ;-)

A bit commercial, but I like it. Really liked the breakdown just after 2:00 or so. Lately I've just been listening to Stephane Wrembel.

I figured you would, personally, it sounds nothing like anthrax to me ( <3 Sound Of White Noise, Persistence, Euphoria ), and lacked all the style they once had. Sounded more like Mötley Crüe in parts. The song from the new album I've been hearing is "Fight Them Until You Can't" and it sounds a LOT like old school Anthrax.

Maybe its just that song then, its not like they haven't changed or played with sounds before, I just didn't like that one personally. Ah, found it, much more anthrax like. http://youtu.be/nzDmgn-G2FM?hd=1

Yeah, that's the one. If you didn't know it, you'd think you were listening to State of Euphoria from that beginning riff.

I almost like that ghost track. I'd ditch the keys and coach the singer a bit, but it's close to being some really good stuff. For me, Anthrax was Fistful of Metal, Armed & Dangerous, Spreading the Disease, then they kinda went a bit mainstream with Among the Living. Also kudos for SoD. Really the only thing I didn't like about early Anthrax (both the early singers) was when they'd hit that one really high falsetto (like the beginning of Metal Thrashing Mad). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-iP80ftu30http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAbzbF219gEhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8ZuSM_UfJoI wish I could tell more stories, but you know, I'm not so certain about statutes of limitations :p edit: that new track is fucking HOT

The album that track comes from, Khaos Legions, is really good, btw. If you like Arch Enemy that is.

If you like Arch Enemy that is. the ammott brothers are snazzy musicians, Angelina is a great frontwoman and I appreciate how much she has done for women in metal..... but there music just bores me. I remember buying Wages of Sin when it first came out hearing the intro riff and think *this is going to be EPIC!!!!*, then about 4 songs later I was snoozing. Jesper of well, ex in-flames now, but one of his side projects: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFZl3uXViWo&NR=1 not full on cookie, but definately not clean singing.

Exactly how I feel about them. I loved Stigmata (no cookie monster growls) and Burning Bridges was not too bad (albeit really short) and when I popped in Wages of Sin expecting to be awed again... I was disappointed quite. It was pretty sad, because those first albums of theirs I bought had really catchy rifts and good vocal power that meshed and worked well and made me want to listen to the album over again (I'm still working on learning to play "Stigmata") but Wages of Sin is just completely the opposite. I tried so hard to get into it and enjoy it, but in the end just shelved it and haven't bought anything they've done since.

Just got 3rd row tickets to the Trucks Tedeschi Band at the Egg (aka the best venue ever). Kinda bummed I didn't get front row (through presale), I got stuck at the login page for a couple minutes :( Still...one of the best touring bands going right now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99tzxzjC_D0

Add Little Feat to my list. Been listening to a lot of Lowell George era Feat and I had forgotten how wonderful it is.
I hope I didn't post this before, but here are two live performances that I love to listen to. I can't seem to get enough of Lowell George. The guy had an amazing voice... especially live. Little Feat - Rock & Roll DoctorDixie Chicken (with guests)

The breadth of your musical tastes is staggering.
Actually, High on Fire is pretty cool. I have one of their older discs.

That High on Fire song is proof positive that I'm getting old. I can't handle the hard stuff any more.
