I was extremely baffled when I saw that the cooking daily was going to reward more tokens.  I'd already bought every cooking recipe, and the hat... what the hell else is there to buy with them?  Spices?  I've got easily 300+ kicking around, I can't picture burning through just the spices I have kicking around in the mail and bank... ever.

Coins: talk about your hardcore casual! That's even too grindy for >>Me<<!!

Well played sir, well played.

How do you expect people to reach 450 fishing?

Between the lag and the small area to fish in it's way too hardcore for me. I was at max fishing way before I got to 80 just doing the dailies.

Oh, and always get at least one skillup when you're doing 'em even if you have the quest reward on cast #2.

If you are going to fish anywhere just for skilling - do it in Wintergrasp. All the fish there are used for Fish Feast http://www.wowhead.com/?item=43015.

I am not to sure how accurate the Armory stats thing is.  Checking my DK, I see:

Most deadly Lich King dungeon boss - Lavanthor (9)

I can't recall every dying to the dog boss in VH, much less 9 times.  Really, how does anyone die to the dog boss in VH?

And I have died many times in Ulduar, but not a single death listed.

Armory stats are just flat out broken and have been since they added them. I think it might still technically be a 'beta'.

Epic gems can be bought with heroism tokens you bunch of wankers. VoA, Naxx, Ulduar, ToC 10 man all net you tokens enough to buy tons of gems.

This is a bad investment if you don't have tons of heroism tokens lying around, since the upgrades are always better point for point by spending the current tokens on gear instead for most casual players.

Likewise, if you actually pvp you typically want to spend your honor on gear rather than epic gems unless you're already decked out with the best stuff.

Ha - I should look up some of the big enchanting AH names on the server for some real scary numbers.

She's ALWAYS on, ALWAYS in the AH.  I dunno how she got to 80 in the AH.  17k disenchanted to 41k materials.  I wish it still showed gold on the armory, I'm sure it's like eleventy bazillion for her (she sells basically everything, not just DE stuff).

Some of my favorite WoW nights were drinking beer and fishing for Old Crafty while hiding in Orgrimmar with my Alliance druid.  Nat Pagle has a point about fishing being good for drinking heavily.

Guess I never updated it, it was Weejas before I transfered the character to a different server and had to change it.

My main... and only 80, is Shinrai who accidentally admitted to being willing to heal and since then has had to leave the axes at home. We mainly do 10 man stuff (I prefer it, the smaller the raid the more varied the gameplay) so not in danger of being uber-geared.

There's a pretty fundamental psychological aversion in most humans to avoid half-assing shit which is probably why so many of the explanations aren't "I'm too lazy/cheap/don't care enough" but instead "I don't have enough time".

Depends on your definition of half-assed. I play how much I want to, and if that means I don't have my Enchanting maxxed or have more purps than Casual McCasual, so be it.

My Healer:

(My "main", although the Warrior below is a much older character, stacked haste on this resto shaman)

My Tank:

(some really weird gems on him, I had change some since the 3.2 gem change, and I'm cheap)

Fucking dungeon system getting me to PVE...

As a ret pally in PVE, hit > crit yes? How many points of hit rating does it take before one doesn't want any more?

Edit: Or maybe not? Stuff I'm turning up says crit. I dunno why I give a fuck, I'm never going past heroics and I can DPS those just fine in my fucking BG PVP gear.

Edit2: Oh yeah, someone ran a meter today to yell at some mage who was fucking off and not doing anything. (I don't even have the meter addon currently.) Is 2.5k DPS in all 213/226 PVP gear okay? (All the shit you can buy with honor and that's it.) Or should I be doing more? I mean I know it's enough for heroics in any case, but I'm curious. I don't follow this sorta shit normally.

If you really care get Rawr, but 2.5k DPS is plenty fine, plenty plenty. Anyone who bitches at you about 2.5k DPS in heroics needs to fuck off frankly  awesome, for real

2.5K DPS in that gear is pretty good, and I wouldn't kick anyone doing 2.5K in most heroics. It's not stellar, but it won't really hinder a group for anything. It's a tad low for Halls of Reflection, but that's about it.

You want hit up to about 5% for physical attacks after that don't worry about it if you're just PVPing/ running Heroics.   If you're worried about your spells hitting, it's about 12%, but I wouldn't worry about it.

For heroics, I think the cap is 7% for bosses.  2.5k dps is fine for any heroic, with the possible exception being HHoR.

If you're looking to gem, then str > all.  If you are looking at how stats rank, then a quick perusal of the EJ thread for ret paladins is probably in order.

Hmm.  A quick look at EJ (link) says, in order of importance:
- Stack hit to 8% (except that's for nominally level 83 bosses, and you are going after level 82 bosses, so 7% should be, in theory, fine.)
- Gem str unless you have 2T9, in which case use str/crit gems to activate sockets with 4 str or more.
- Expertise
- Crit
- Agility (if you want to use leather/mail/jewelry, sometimes agil+attack power is better than str)
- Haste
- Attack power
- Armor penetration

In short, you're looking for gear with some combination of expertise/crit/hit/haste.  Avoid Armor pen if you can.

Thanks all, I'll keep it in mind. I probably won't bother with the new heroics until I've put together a little PVE gear anyway. I've done so little PVE up to this point that the old ones aren't burned-out to me. I'm still popping "first time you beat this dungeon" achievements left and right.

Was looking at the loot lists and even the NORMAL versions of the new dungeons give out stuff people had to raid to get two patches ago. Oh the splendid times we live in.

WUA, if you're curious get Rawr, point it to your armory profile, check the talents, buffs, and fight tabs to see that all the info is correct.  Then you should have a realistic account of what your character can do and how each piece of gear, talent, glyph, enchant, gem, and buff contributes to the total under the circumstances in a nice little .Net framework GUI.

This is my non-raiding - semi casual (meaning = I spend all my playing time in group heroics and grinding faction dailies) Rogue:

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Caelestrasz&n=Jaquet

Hat is chef's hat (decorative achievement hat only) atm which I just got, but will change it back to Garona's (T9) when I log back in. Almost everything is vendor bought (grinding random LFG heroics for emblem of Triumph badges - the Garona T9 stuff), loot from the new ICC 5 man heroics (daggers) and epic tradeskill items (belt and cape) bought at a discount from the guild or AH. Almost all the gear (except the trinkets) have been upgraded from the ilevel 213-219 stuff from 1 patch back.

My gear now I think would only just qualify for the new "entry level raider" (ilevel 232) these days - as it is I would think I would have been badass 2 patches back.

My healer and enchantment bot:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Caelestrasz&n=Katyuzha

The plan for this toon is this: grind out heroics as Shadowpriest DPS (a lot less stressful life). Collect Emblem of Triumphs/Frost for T9 healer gear; use the gear  dropped in heroics (the new ICC5 stuff) for the shadow spec.

The thing is with gear for healers - you can't skimp on the gear. You have got to GET THE BEST THAT YOU CAN GET. As DPS you can slack off and put out
2.5k dps while everyone else is doing 3.5k dps - you can get away with it (and won't wipe the raid) - blame it on "had to stop dps and step away from pool of green shat". A healer slacking off, with deficient gear or lagging bad will almost always wipe a raid (or have plenty of people mad at him/her - hence the stress).

You need to learn how to tell people to fuck themselves with a rusty spoon.  Heroics are not serious at all, and gear doesn't actually make that much difference compared to a tank that isn't shit for brains and DPS you don't need to babysit.

If your tank is well geared, you don't have to have the bestest best best healer gear. Unless you're doing crazy bleeding edge shit, but that's not a LFD thing.

Some of those well geared tanks can really fuck up an undergeared healer though.  Lately I've been getting uber geared tanks that just chain pull nonstop.  One I had spent most of UP getting hit by nothing, but then something got through.  He went from 45k hp to 20 what could not have been but looked like 1 hit.  I was hard pressed to fix that in a timely fashion for his chain pulling ways.

Yes well, that's the tank being super confident/totally oblivious. Also, if you mean 20k HP left, that's more than enough HP. My fresh 80 tanks had about 22k.  why so serious?
