First you are just some guy who makes games, then some big wig with SOE, then a published author and now this!

I'm riveted to my chair, anxiously waiting for what comes next.  But gratz, Raph... it's a pretty cool thing, actually.

PS  You didn't make it yourself, did you?

Grats, Raph. I also think more than 4 lines are deserved- they didn't even get to your aliases like Holocron or DD!

Umm, you people *are* aware anyone can make their own Wikipedia entry, right?  Not that I'm accusing Raph of doing it himself, but I'm just saying...

No, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for enlightening me, Bruce.

Sorry, we're all just noobs at teh Internet, never heard of Wikipedia before, and failed to notice "Welcome to Wikipedia, a free-content encyclopedia that anyone can edit" on the front page.

I wonder why Raph would intentionally put an inaccuracy in it though. To make it seem more "authentic"?

Heh, no, I didn't make it myself. That's against Wikipedia rules anyway--you aren't supposed to write about yourself on it.

Well, there goes the wikipedia as a trustworthy info source, now I am going to have to check everything I read on there with second source.  Snowspinner is the guy who admitted to makeing up numbers for entries in an encylopedia he worked for.

I can imagine.  From what I've gathered from C-Span this seems to pretty much be a compulsive addiction for most authors.

If the entry should be expanded to include...

"Raph Koster is responsible for most of what's good in massively multiplayer online games, as well as most of what fucking sucks about them, and is doomed to be both adored and reviled for all eternity!"

...well, I shall deny everything...

Fantastic.
Add the old cliché of coke spurting from noses onto screens and keyboards... if I was drinking a coke, which I'm not, and if I laughed out loud, which I hardly do. But it was jolly funny.

And Raph, considering the pagewars on Wikipedia is this really the right community to point towards your entry?
I can just see the minute by minute changes in the definition of PvP, which this could lead to.

I guess the second sentence of the entry in which he was described as "a self-serving, sanctimonius, Fuckardian prick who would best serve the interests of mankind by smothering inside his furry suit" got edited out.

People who try to use it for "real work" need to get a "real job" with "real resources". And yes, this is a "real reply" from someone who has a "real job" who would NEVER use Wikipedia as a "real resource".

A lot of people say they'd prefer Encyclopedia Britannica over the Wikipedia because they trust the credibility of those who work on the Britannica more.

Personally, I think the Wikipedia rocks.  Considering it's open-source, the data there is reported surprisingly responsibly and it covers a far wider range of topics than any encyclopedia I know.   Only on the Wikipedia can you look up pop culture items such as "grok" or the definitions of bizarre sex acts.

So the "self-serving, sanctimonious, Fucktardian prick" part was accurate?  'Tis a shame it was removed.

And Bruce, as long as you have been around, do you really think that asking people on the internet to stop being immature vandals was going to get a favorable response?  Mayhaps "naive" should have been inserted between "Fucktardian" and "prick".

"Forgiving" and "optimistic" are more accurate.  I believe in giving people 2nd, and 3rd, etc. chances to prove they've actually matured.
