Sin City Movie Trailer

For those not in the know, Sin City was a series of gritty, noir-style black and white comics done by Frank Miller, one of my favorites. They were very starkly drawn black and whites, with lots of empty space and shadows, superbly drawn with good, tight storylines. It was always some of Miller's best work.

Robert Rodriguez of El Mariachi, Desperado and other fame (yes, Spy Kids, if you like that sort of thing) is directing the movie adaptation. It appears to be some of his best work in the trailer. Watch it, love it, anticipate it.

The cool thing is that he let Frank Miller stay on the set with him the whole time, at first to consult with him, then pretty much made him the real guy in charge...even let him direct. Seeing Mickey Rourke back in a leading role is great too.

If it sucks it won't be because it wasn't accurate.

Since I have to be the odd man out here and refuse to install something called "AOL Embedded Music Player" - I'll up the ante with this.

Dark Water - Jennifer Connelly, John. C. Reilly, & Tim Roth (This is the book following Ringu (in Japan, by the original author)

If anyone finds a quicktime version of the Sin City trailer, I'd like to see it.

Man, that looked good.
So true to the books, that I'll expect it to loose money bigtime - come on, regular movie goers won't get the look at all. Don't expect so see more than the one movie...

I would like to discuss this more with you, but I'm not allowed to post in Politics anymore.

Robert Rodriguez, though, is known for being able to make movies cheaply (relatively speaking). His Spy Kids movies all had budgets under $40 million each and combined grossed over $450 million worldwide.

Yeah, I think all his films have turned a good profit. Even the not so good ones. He does almost all post production, scoring, and effects on Macs....At his house.

My brain shut down at the very concept of 'proving'.

It doesn't matter anyway.  From the trailer, this movie is going to live or die based on style, not T&A.

Go, go Frank Mlller.
