Don't know if anyone can help me, but I've got a family member who is heading off to Lake Como in Italy for "work" purposes in a couple of weeks. She needs internet access, preferably mobile broadband, to keep on top of her business. Probably need it for about two weeks and might want to use broadband mobile in other parts of Europe, but that's not essential.
Are there any providers in Italy / Europe who can provide mobile internet access for tourists that will probably work around Lake Como?
This calls out for me, and still I am the mobile phone hater and I know nothing about that kind of stuff, I am sorry.
What I can tell you is that Italy is crazy about everything that's mobile and there are a shittons offers of all kind. All Tabacchi shops and some BARs sell prepaid SIMs, but chances are one of the four big Italian providers will have solutions covering your relative's needs, so she wants to look for one of their official stores.
It's all in Italian, I know. And the TIM website has an "english" link at the bottom that leads you here Or she should be able to buy a USB key/modem for about 40 euro (I think all three providers have their version of it) and recharge it with prepaid SIMs from 5 euros up.
Sorry, I am totally useless when it comes to cellular phones and providers.
