Got a copy I was supposed to review. Given that it was so close to release date, I was just going to BiiF it. Anyway.

Shit will just not install. Tried 5 times, failed when configuring every time - after the huge install. So, I email PR. Find out that it has to be installed on the primary hard drive (you know, C:, where Windows resides). I don't install fuck anything on that hard drive except Windows.

Get the PS3 or 360 version, they deserve to be punished for this shit. PC version doesn't have multiplayer anyway.

Edit: Also, I'm finding out about the Steam version for everyone. This whole thing is just unreal.

Edit 2: tl;dr - Pirating the 360 version and modding your 360 would be easier than installing the PC version. Ohhhhh, I see. <-- I'm not condoning that, just making a point.

Fortunately, I read this 45 minutes before heading out to snag my own copy. Thanks for the warning.

Looks like I'll be playing Red Faction tonight.

That is truly fuckstupid. Does it also wipe the partition it's installed on when you uninstall?

I think he just means he's still trying to figure out if the Steam version has the same crippleware as the retail boxed version.

I've read the PS3 version was a total disappointment as well.  Seems they want you to get the 360 version or nothing.

Don't Steam games just go into whatever directory you've designated for Steam?

Usually, although some games have an extra install step after you download them from Steam (because the developers couldn't be bothered to figure out how to get Steam to install them nicely), at which point they might do all sorts of dumb shit.

Jeezus, that's retarded. And I was tempted by the low price on Steam too. I shall now wait. Because, well, I wasn't that tempted.

I've not read anything regarding differences between the PS3 and Xbox versions.  What's the difference that is making the PS3 so bad?

Ehh, actually it looks like what I was referring to might be bullshit.  Turns out the people that did a comparison may have been using a pre-release build for comparison.  But the review was here

Linky

Though Ars Technica is saying that's not the case and it is indeed messed up on the PS3 version.

If the reviews above are true, then we all lose when third party developers make the same game for different platforms.  The PS3 screenies are shit compared to the 360 ones.  That's sad.  There's no reason for the PS3 version to look that bad.

I'm actually suspect of that review because those shots are so bad in comparison.

That was a close one. Already tried to buy it yesterday, thankfully (for once) it was North America only.

D/Led it on steam, started it in career mode and it locked up.  Ohhhhh, I see.

Got this yesterday for the 360 for my son.  Will toss out some impressions when I get a chance to either play or spend some quality time watching him play.  He played about three hours last night and was talking about it non stop when I was taking him to Kung Fu camp this morning.

He is eight and Ghost Busters was the first movie he fell head over heels in love with; even over Star Wars.

Only dissapointment is no split screen co-op (or I am technically unskilled in finding it).

What about the Wii version?  (is it MP also?)
Proton accelerator + wiimote should have some kind of appeal.

The IGN reviewer said it was about as good as the HD system games, just with cartoony graphics (which apparently improve the storyline scenes), and mostly good wiimote controls with the odd hiccup.

So it depends on if you like cartoon graphics or not.

Ill probably go Wii as its 20 dollars cheaper.  Apparently TRU had a deal if you bought the game you got a 20 dollar giftcard with it.  I coulda bought the game AND gotten a swell toy or two...

Only dissapointment is no [360] split screen co-op (or I am technically unskilled in finding it).

Wii version has 2 player local co-op but nothing online, 360/PS3 has online 4 player co-op for separate multiplayer games but nothing local.

Does using the Wii remote to zap the ghosts makes up for its less-than-HD graphics?  Video clips tell me no.

Whole thing reeks of fail on a development level.  It's almost as if EA was involved.   awesome, for real

ummm, are you crazy?  This game was meant for local coop play imo.  I remember playing the C64 version (ummm, like 25 yrs. ago) and having a blast with my friends all helping play.
That sells it for me.  Screw the PC version, get the Wii version.  And if I had kids, the Wii version is obvious.

Playing something like this online doesnt appeal to me.

The boy runs into the house today yelling that he has my Father's Day gift early.  Turns out it is Ghostbusters on PS3 and he picked it out himself.  Also, it's not bad.  Murray mumbles too much, need to fidget with the sound, but so far it's decent.

I'm having a lot of fun. Graphics are good, gameplay is fun, controls are a shade bleh until you adjust em. I don't care much for the over the shoulder bit, but it works. The PKE meter thing is cool even if stolen from Metroid Prime. Also, it's the boys. Every one of them sounds like the original fellas. They don't say anything I wouldn't expect to hear in the movie. Glad I bought it, even without multiplayer.

That would be because they ARE the original fellas.  All of the major actors from the movies, save Sigourney Weaver and Rick Moranis, did their voices for the game.

I find the relatively-destructible environments to be very cool.  Not sure if this is on the PC version. Ohhhhh, I see.
