This just launched a couple of days ago. I just joined but haven't even read the tutorial/FAQ yet. If someone has a bit more time, maybe they can give us a rundown

I'm going to guess this ends up like Astro Empires where people start farming lesser civilizations, but what the heck...

Having read the tutorial I tend to agree with that being how its going to play out. A neat touch in that not only can they come and blow your fleet away they can then recycle the bits floating in space.

Is anyone still playing? I sent a ship to Sidereal's planet to say hello but never heard back.
There seems like there may be some better limitations on fleets that wasn't present in Astro Empires. I haven't had any battles yet, so I can't say how it will turn out later on. My little empire is doing pretty well though. Seven planets with an eighth on the way, and my tech is progressing well for being one of my lower numbers.

I fumbled through my first colony pretty badly so it took me about forever to get the tech for colonization. Now have 3 colonies and am starting to work toward offensive capabilities.

Yeah, no. I lasted about 3 days. The tech tree looked like a long list of "Get Radar 13 to unlock Armor 15 to unlock Ray Guns 18!". Sort of a boring, underfeatured MOO3 clone. Also, the interface breaks in Chrome pretty regularly.

I just started this too. Working toward my shipyard. So far, with Chrome, no problems.

So things aren't going so great here. I'm in the middle of a couple of Goons, and apparently I suck at the mechanics because they just shred my ships. Now I can't get enough of a fleet together to even hope to defend myself. I'll probably have to quit soon since there's not much point.
I was hoping the energy expenditure mechanics for fleet maintenance would provide a limit. Maybe they do, but combat is also wonky and I can't even see the battle reports to know wtf is happening in my losses.
