My wife and I are picking Vanguard back up. Does anyone here play on Seradon?

Well we got to play something, since I cant play eve for more than 5 minutes without some sort of crash due to completely consumed ram.
WoW is horrid. AoC has nothing to do beyond level 20ish pretty much. EQ2 is not something we desire to go back to. Warhammer......I dont even need to explain. CoX......played to death...lots of alts all max level didnt like the mission architect enough to continue resubbing. LOTRO......it wasn't our cup of tea.
Please to be suggesting alternatives.

You dont have one. I am in the same boat. But unlike you I just refuse to pay for shit games. I am playing my consoles and doing some random RPG shit to get my MMO kick. I really wish there was something compelling to play, but I have ether played it to death (WoW) or been forced away by broken mechanics (War, AoC).
I am hoping Champions will be fun for a month or two. Other than that, the MMOG landscape is pretty bleak.

How about not an MMOG?
Look, I don't really like WoW either, but saying it's horrid when you're resubbing to Vanguard actually DOES make you look like an asshole.

If it must be an MMO, Free Realms? Go grab the free starter cards from Best Buy that Grimwell mentioned.

Fine......the only thing about WoW that is horrid is the thought of playing it anymore than we have............wait a sec, do you even play wow? Vanguard has way better class mechanics than WoW. Also as far as i am concerned WoW is just as grindy and broken in its own ways. Also.....this is about mmo gaming with my wife. So it is important for me to consider her tastes as well. Also, I just wanted to know if anyone was playing on Seradon. Jeesus.

Just get into browser-games like the rest of us, while we wait for something/ANYTHING with any quality to release.

AoC has nothing to do beyond level 20ish pretty much. That has changed. Really? Yes. Just leveled a Tempest to 62. Never ran out of quests, never visited all the zones, never needed to grind. Was dinging all the way. Got quite a nice pace to it.

I tried Vanguard again a few months back when they had some free welcome back event.
I made a goblin something-or-other and actually had fun for the first hour or so. That was until I reached a quest where I had to read some books and answer multiple choice questions on them in order to advance to the next room. After trying every possible answer, asking in chat and scouring the forums I eventually found out the the quest was bugged and the only way to proceed was to contact a GM. Raising a ticket I thought I'd make an alt instead of waiting around.
I then made some human derivative character (called something like a Kojani). This also went fine at first, but after a few quests I had to talk to some floaty Budhist type fellow in order to teleport off the island. Lo and behold this was broken as well and according to the forums the only way off was again to contact a GM and wait.
At that point I uninstalled.
Granted my experience is probably a bad/unlucky one even by Vanguard standards, but I'm sure there are better things you could do than play this game.

What server you on? Wicanna. Mind you, here we have to beg for players for the pvp minigames. Also, my account time ran out.

I agree with Itto on AoC. Have a 39 Demo on Wiccana (I pussed out on the PvP server after getting to 29) and have not run out of quests. One but though, unless you do the group dungeon quests you will have to either grind some mobs or do some grey con quests but it wasn't that many, basically did like 35 to 38 on grey quests. That was all of maybe two days of fairly casual play and soloing exclusively. Unless I missed a quest hub somewhere which is always a possibility.

You didn't. The only early zone that has enough quests to do the 20-40 stretch by itself is wild lands. If you started in Conall's, you start getting elite quests at 28, and the same happens in Stygia at 32-33, where they want you to hit Black Temple, which will net you at least 3 levels in a single run. Then it's off to the wild lands to do a bit of questing to the 37-38's, at which point you can go back to stygia to do the late 30 quests involving the pyramid, which can be done solo and will also give you at least 2 levels, or just finish the wild lands, which will carry you to 40 with ease. Never had to hit all 3 zones, though. - Also, completing the pyramid gives you quite a nice cape, and has an unusually complex boss for a dungeon of that level.

Ya at 38 I went and did the Treasury of the Ancients and the quests outside the pyramid. Now at 39 working on the pyramid which I can tell will give me 40 at least. I think my problem might have been that I hopped back and forth between all three zones too much. Probably missed some quests and their chains since once they are grey you don't get the ! anymore. Found a bunch just by talking to random NPC's though.

I fired up AoC recently. I love my level 54 HoX, but due to the way they added quests I am still really stuck. I have done every quest up to about level 60ish, so I can only find red quests. Then I got bored being by myself and uninstalled.
It was much better though. Ran smoother, and seemed to not have that unfinished feeling any more.

In the next patch they'll allow people with a 50 to create a brand new 50. Would be the time for you, I suppose, recreate the HoX, mail the gold, get all the quests and keep playing. Wiccana's the server, but you gotta be aware that it is nearly devoid of pvp. If you're cool with that, AoC on.

This. Plus just download the free Trial. It's pretty good. It's fun. And it's free. After you're done you have no feeling or need to actually give them money. Trust me I did this last weekend.

I don't know if it's THE server, but it is where BC got merged to (and my alt characters resided before then).

Have you considered some of the better f2p games?
Decently done fantasy diku: Runes of Magic Perfect World Atlantica (turn based combat)
I've tried all 3 and they all do the quest grind just fine.

I can second Perfect World. It's a grindy KMMO but it's got a bright fun vibe to it. Runes of Magic didn't hook me in but I think it's because I was comparing it too much to WoW. It wasn't a bad game, just didn't hold my interest.

Hell, its not a MMO, but try Drakensang. Its a single player RPG that has a MMO vibe to it. It also features player housing, which is in short supply in MMO land. :)

In single-player RPGs, the whole world is my house. Refer to Morrowind and Oblivion, for starters.
