Total time logged in: 353 days, 18 hours and 47 minutes.

Meaningless numbers are meaningless.  You just have to have the browser open in the background.

Granted, this is your baby so you should have a big number... others may/may not have lots of time online because it sits idle all day while they work.

How exactly does it count this? Like I said, I literally almost never close my browser, and F13 is on the first tab. Shouldn't I have a much higher number? Or does it go by how long that tab/browser holds focus? I am a fast reader...

My guess is that it's "actively browsing" time.  At the bottom of the index there's a list of users "active in the last 15 minutes".  I'm thinking it's essentially counting up the amount of time that your name is on that list.  So it's not just having your browser open, it's having your browser open and having clicked or refreshed something in the last 15 minutes.

I imagine it's like this;
It has one counter for accumulated time.
It has a timestamp of the most recent login.
It has a timestamp of the most recent activity.

Every page visit refreshes the activity timestamp. If you let the session lapse (15 minutes), you will get (time of activity - time of login) added to your accumulated time next time you log in, and the timestamps will reset to current time. Meaning, if you just pull it up after the session has expired and just hit a refresh, you won't get more than a couple milliseconds of activity time, at most (unless they're set at the same time.)

No, you need a browser window open in the background that auto-refreshes itself if you want to rack up the "logged in" time. After you "idle" for a bit it no longer considers you "logged in" until you refresh/load a page again. If you watch the Users Online section at the bottom of the main page you can see this in action as people move down the list and eventually disappear as they idle.

No one has commented that I brought back my first f13 avatar. Shame.

Edit: (a couple others did also, not counting Ironwood, because I don't think he ever changed it. In fact, he's still a fan of artifacts I see)

I used to have the avatar of that Brain guy from The Onion, but that was pre-F13, I think.  I'm sure Zod has always been me here.  (Damn, I can't remember the Brain guys name...)

Artifacts ?  Me confused.

Five! That's quite a few years.

It feels like I've been here longer for that. Is that the world weariness setting in?

The avatar collection is awesome. The Maxim girls are still there, I thought they disappeared in the great HDD crash of 2006.

I'll go retro for the occasion as well.  Apropos of nothing, it looks like I cruised past 5k posts without even noticing.

Thanks for providing a sandbox that allows me to (mostly) keep my sanity.

I still remember being quite young, reading archives of LtM and wishing I was born a few years earlier, finding waterthread and witnessing whatever the fuck went on, reading some site I can't remember (it's tag line was motherfuck you funcom) and arcadian del sol.  Goodtimes.  Glad f13 lives and carries on the lineage of nostalgia...

So, isn't it about time for Schild to run off to an industry job where he can  shack up with some midget transvetite prostitute with the server funds?

I bet he hasn't wrriten the long rambling nonsensical goodbye post or setup his  wordpress account.

For a site I saw in a thread called under the radar. I was looking for a site to read about games that was not blocked by work (I work for the fed). The site works the forums function. The community here rocks so hard. I lurk more than I post but I do post some. I really need to thank all of you for letting me get to know you. And I really need to thank the management team for making this all possible. This site succeeds because it is successful. Oh crap the spell checker is on fire again.

I started with nothing, and I still have most of it

I'm not a complete idiot... Some parts are still on backorder.
