I'm a big Nathan Fillion fan, but I wasn't at first that interested in this movie (and my interest only revived because he was in it). I'm so glad I Tivoed this when it came on. It's absolutely hysterical. Take a pretty typical Critters type of scenario (alien monsters assault small town), add some decent performances and some well-acted campy lines and you have a movie that does to monster drive-in movies what Scream did to slasher flicks (before it got so horribly overdone). It's fun without every descending into stupidity, it's self-aware without being hung up on meta navel-gazing and it's got some hotness in it with Elizabeth Banks. It's a great popcorn movie.

I love Slither. This, Dr. Horrible, and Firefly make me wish Nathan Fillion could break out into a more well known name. I think he deserves at least Bruce Campbell levels of B-movie success. That said, I honestly think the man is cursed somehow. Hmm..maybe if Sam Raimi ever remakes Evil Dead like he's been talking about they can cast him as Ash?

It's been awhile since I've seen it, but I remember some of Nathan's lines sounding alot like stuff he might've said in Firefly.

"We live in a country, where John Lennon takes six bullets in the chest, Yoko Ono was standing right next to him and not one fucking bullet! Explain that to me! Explain that to me, God! Explain it to me, God!" - Denis Leary summing up my feelings about the nature of the universe.

Much as I love Nathan Fillion, I don't think he'd make a good Ash.  An integral part of Ash's character is that underneath the bravado and asskicking, he's a dorky S-Mart clerk with a girl's name.  You can't have a guy built like a goddamn linebacker in that role.

I don't know. Nathan Fillion played a good asshole in Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog. Besides, Bruce Campbell isn't exactly small. And if they're doing a remake you don't want everything exactly the same with different actors.
