Does anyone know what happened to this game, from Stardock.

That last news post was like 2 years ago and I'd been looking forward to it and just remembered it.

Link to website

The forum doesn't look like it exists anymore on the stardock site either :(:(

Society
Stardock is working on a massively multiplayer RTS called Society. On a basic level, it is a real-time strategy game that could be described as Total Annihilation meets The Sims. Because of the immense infrastructure required for it, this game will be vaporous for the foreseeable future as we build up our IT infrastructure.

This quote from some time in 2008 is the last I heard.

No idea on their forums, the link they have on the Society news takes you to one of the Sins of a Solar Empire forum threads, meh.

Article that came out this week.

Quote
Independent developer and publisher Stardock is nearly doubling its staff -- and CEO Brad Wardell tells Gamasutra the expansion will allow the company to develop a new RPG title as well as restart development on its dormant RTS/MMO hybrid Society.

It's a good article, but tl;dr version: Development halted because of lack of staff and infrastructure, Michigan gave them a bailout, now they're restarting.

I do like the way Stardock handle videogames. It'll be great to see how this turns out.

I do too, I just hate some of their art. Not in their published stuff (like Demigod) but their inhouse stuff. God, some of it almost falls under "what has been seen can not be unseen."

Hell, ironically, for a company that basically exists to make new GUIs, their game GUIs are tremendously bad more often than not. Or rather, amateurish tech demo-y kinda stuff.
