Tilted Mill seems to have decided to make a browser based game, Nile Online. As I am a giant Tilted Mill fangirl, and a huge fan of CotN in particular, I signed up for their beta. It's pretty fun (I think).

Looks awesome but do I have to worry about midnight raids against my empire?

Ah shit. Another one. Please don't make it something I have to pay attention to all the time. WRITE MOAR, SFOJN.

The current expected wait time is BRILLIANT.

Not sure! The military stuff isn't in yet (you can build them but not actually do anything with them), but I think it's only used to capture monuments and such, not actual cities.

You don't HAVE to pay attention to it all the time, I don't think ... buildings and such take real time to build (and ramps up pretty fast, my last market upgrade took like four hours). I basically leave my city's page up in the background and glance at it once in a while. And I'm pretty sure that's more than some people do. :P The main attention-needer is the marketplace, at least in the early stages, because everyone around you is about as new as you are, so sometimes you only have one person selling a good you need or whatever, and you need to SIEZE THE MOMENT. I imagine once the cities around me get more developed, the urge to babysit the marketplace in the off chance someone finally puts up some goddamn perfume will wane.

Ingmar and Fordel are both playing too, perhaps they will pipe up!

My name is Seraphia, that's sorta Egyptianish! I rule over the grand city of Mag Mell in the Nome of Bastqed.

My slaves are much better cared for these days, they spent the first 24 hours of their existence trying to eat bricks and mud.

Henna is useful 'cause you can make it into perfume (henna + oil), and to go from three to four for your palace you needs perfume. Henna also goes into cosmetics, which are needed for founding a second city, but I kinda think that won't come up in your area for a while.

I started on kohl, which sucks. ><

All the upgrade levels go from a hand full of minutes to multiple hours, really quick. I totally see myself losing interest in this in about a week, maybe two.

It's rather brilliant on Tilted Mill's part. The graphics and GUI stuff they do is crap for a real game, but for a browser game it's pretty much perfect. Sure, the GUI could use some rearranging but I didn't have to do a tutorial to figure out early build order.

Djedu is just the default name for a city, you can rename it via your central palace/fort/castle thing.
