I never understood the poison making bit. It is a decent concept, but really unfinished. When I leveled my rogue, I made the poisons and used the poisons. The skill itself just came with that activity. I didn't have to go out of my way to max the skill at all.
There aren't special recipes I can find or create, so EVERY rogue makes the same stuff, from the same stuff. It just became yet another activity I had to spend time on before I had what I needed. There was no actual player skill component to it. There is no depth to it.
If they had done it right, they would have added recipes. Better yet, allow custom poisons. Each ingredient could have a specific attribute. Add the right amounts of the attributes you want and you could have a hybrid mix. Want a little healing mod along with DOT? Want a little movement mod along with an instant damage modifier? Want a chance to blind or stun on hit? Mix it up. On that same vein, I really thought after doing that quest in Zangarmarsh with the poison recipe, we might get something like it (stun 1 minute later for 10 seconds, etc.) Missed opportunity IMO, but shows that they could have gone A LOT further with the design.
I'd love to have one that gave people that "drunk" effect like the Ogre Brewmasters do when they hit you with beer.

WUA resorts to namecalling when he disagrees. That wasn't namecalling. That was merely an observation. Namecalling is when I tell you that you're a hunchbacked sister-fucking mongoloid catass. (By the way, you are.) But seriously, I think you should quit. That'll show Blizzard for dumbing things down with less leaf-picking, or whatever highly-skilled activity you're lamenting the loss of. Either that, or stand in line for your crack like a good little bitch and shut the fuck up.

The only thing that a rogue using blind on me in pvp told me about the rogue was that he was a dumbass who wasted blind on a dwarf protection warrior who is just going to stoneform out of it. Seriously, how long will people keep pretending that "time wasted grinding something = skill"? So dumb. There's certainly an argument to be made that keeping your shit up to date makes you a more *useful* player, but it doesn't make you more skilled, so when they remove barriers it doesn't dumb anything down. There's still plenty of stuff to catass over in your free time and there always will be. Do you have an epic gem in every slot and the best available enchantment on every piece of gear?

"First the earth cooled. And, then the MMOs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died, and they turned into oil. And, then the Arabs came and they bought Mercedes Benzes. And, Prince Charles started wearing all of Lady Di's clothes. I couldn't believe it, he took her best summer dress out of the closet, and put it on, and went to town." I figure it will be around when we start powering our cars with MMO oil...

I said I was disappointed that they dumbed down the class, then you jumped in my face. Good trolling, douchebag, you got me to overreact on the internet. Enjoy your cookie.
I was wrong about the thieves tools, too. That figures. Well, that frees up another slot. I'll be sure to fill it up with QQ. Will you trade that pic of the violin for a stack of tears? Now that I've given you a chance to use it, maybe you won't need it anymore. Just saying.
No, dickhead. Re-read the thread. You bemoaned the loss of complexity, then I posted this, which I believe is a quite reasonable and non-aggressive post: It was hardly complexity. It was just a matter of carrying extra shit around and remembering to stock it up (Flash pellets and blind powder). The poisons was the same shit, just going to the vendor and choosing the same few reagents for the same few combines.
This somehow caused you to have a self-indulgent self-sympathy meltdown, you being the only true rogue that pickpocketed, and how rogues are going to quit en masse due to a lack of "Next thing, Blizzard will be taking locked doors and chests out of the game. Too many rogues giving up because they can't stealth through the doors to get to the xp-bags on the other side.". At that point I had enough of your self-indulgent bullshit and called you out on it. Oh, and I'm not the one bitching and crying. I've said I didn''t mind it before, but I prefer it now with some extra bag slots. You're the one crying and whining all over this thread. Dren nailed the issues with the poison making profession perfectly in his post. Actually, Ingmar has a good point as well. I only bothered to use Blind in instances, and not in BGs. For the same reason I still rarely bother to use potions in battlegrounds. Because BG PVP isn't worth burning consumables on.

I won't miss it taking up backpack slots, or the required pre-work, but I will miss the flavor. Too bad they couldn't find a way to make it feel like you were using poisions without the tedium and the stuff in the backpack. Now it's just another ability in the book that "just works". That I never have to think about again. I think that's what Hutch was trying to get at... but it's more entertaining for the rest of us when you call eachother dickheads, so keep it up.

Yes Now's the time to get those four years of unfinished house chores done.

If it had been implemented in the manner Dren outlined, it would have been more interesting and have involved some thought. I too would have have bemoaned the loss of such a system. As it was, it was a good idea, poorly implemented. Like the Ravenholdt stuff suddenly ending without a real resolution. Or the Darkmoon Faire, for that matter. I didn't like it, I didn't dislike it. I just did it. Now I just buy the same stuff I used to make. The only difference is that it takes about 5 minutes less to restock.

Yes Now's the time to get those four years of unfinished house chores done. I did just vacuum in fact! Really with the Daily Island there, getting the cash for those things wasn't any kind of arduous task. Every two days I had another epic gem. Probably helps that Doomhammer is a "lol full" server, so plenty of Auction House to go around.

/boggle @ my thread's evolution.
so uh how are you liking your rogue now? WAR has flushed through my system, and I am looking at the needle and the spoon on my shelf called WoW and am thinking of resubbing. I have a 70 Hunter, Rogue and Druid (all on seperate accounts..don't ask). Was debating between getting wotlk for the druid or rogue account. So interested in feedback from your rogue. I liked the rogue, was my first toon, like the play style... but it sounds like druid might be the better choice atm? any input appreciated cheers

Random rogue opinion: I like my rogue a lot more at 80 than I did at 70 simply because of Tricks of the Trade. The big tank threat increase post 3.0 helped, of course, but with ToT around it is a real shift in mindset for me from "when can I not be a tard and pull aggro" to "when can I give the tank tons of threat and more damage." If there's another rogue along, you can instead ToT each other just for a flat damage increase every time it's up again with no net threat change.
Fan of Knives is also neat, though the animation is pretty lame and the damage in no way compares to real AoE -- but it is fun to play with and give you something else to think about on occasion.

hmm guess i need to research lvl 80 rogues and druids not going to do the multiple account nonsense, so far leaning towards just activating the druid and upgrading it to wotlk.

I ended up leveling a DK instead of my Rogue as it just wasn't really fun for me after playing how for so long. Right now Rogues are not in the best shape. Since Heroics got easer a lot of groups just AE their way through, and Rogues are sorely lacking in the AE department.
Single target they still do a shitton of damage. With my AE spec DK in full blues, I usually do about the same damage done in an instance as a Nax geared rogue when taking trash in to account. On a single boss they pull ahead.
They are decent in PVP, but pretty much the same class they where at 60, and then again at 70. Fairly middling from what I have heard.
Hunters are super OP, but getting a big nerf. Druids are pretty good. I have serious trouble killing druids in PVP with my DK. Hell, yesterday I just had one stand and heal through all my damage and interupts, there wasn't a single thing I could do to him.

I like how they gave rogues an improved version of the old rampage and rogues are bitching about it. Just proves how utterly fucked warriors were in terms of shit mechanics all throughout TBC. And yes, it blows cock.

And yes, it blows cock. [/quote] It's not exactly a fair comparison; rampage was much worse. You had to not be rage starved from your cycle (not hard) and you had to have landed a crit in the past few seconds. Ssometimes rampage would just drop and there was absolutely nothing you could do about it except roar TIIIGOOOOLE into the darkness.
