I love my TV an' hug my TV an' call it 'George'.

While I hope Richard gets back ok, it would be kinda funny to hear the transcript of a problem:
"Houston, we have a problem." "Sorry, I cannot help thee with that."
(I know it's not NASA, stfu)

How the fuck did he end up with $30 million to blow? Did he get in on the Amazon IPO?

He sold Origin Systems to EA in 1992 for $35 million. Invest that money wisely before the tech runup and that's a lot of salad.

Teaching the world Google-fu one broken dream at a time.

Also, he may have paid $30 million for the flight but he in turn has been paid by a number of sponsors, so he's only out of pocket by a fraction of that. It was in the article or something. Hitler wasn't.
If he invested his money in stocks wisely, he's recently lost a fair amount of it. We've have heard from him about that, but in space no-one can hear you scream.

He also made quite a bit of money when Destination Games was sold to NCsoft (not sure as to the exact amount but it was a significant portion of NCsoft stock).
That being said he postponed his trip a few times due to the cost.

On another note, People here are so blasé - either about space travel or even gamers in space. C'mon - its LORD BRITISH IN SPACE!!!! Tough crowd - I'm kinda stoked for him...

It's a watch. But if buying watches gets more people into space, go buy watches!
