See, I happen to agree with this. My point is that you can't just say 'This was THE BEST FULLSTOP' without expecting that others, may, you know, have like a totally different opinion dude.
<derail> Anyone else ever get into Myth (The Fallen Lords, not Myst the tedious photo puzzle games)? Was pure small-unit tactics, like Ground Effect, i.e. no base building or unit production, just take a bunch of dwarves, barbarians, spellcasters, bowman etc into a map and try not to let the bloody dwarves kill to many of your own units.
Loved those games, had serious multiplayer potential but nobody I knew at the time liked it and the multiplayer community dwindled to a few diehard Mac users pretty fast.
And would that still count as an RTS or would you call it a different genre entirely or just a subset of RTSs?
