I'm bound and determined to get someone to watch this. Edit: Wrong episode.

Brooker is always all types of awesome. You don't need to convince me. His books are also stellar and well worth the price. Further, his column in the Guardian is usually worth a peep.
That said, he's not exactly broken America. Or, I suspect, ever will.

I got Dead Set on DVD for Christmas. Haven't watched it yet but by all accounts it's zombietastic. I guess if anything will hit America for him then it'll be that (provided it's as good as I am told) although I'm sure that rather than show it, they'll remake it and miss the point entirely.
As per usual.

Watched the first three seasons and love it. It sort of like a funnier UK version of "Kalkhofes Mattscheibe", which I entirely approve of.

Newswipe has already showed it's first episode, but xthemusic hasn't put it up yet.

Watched Newswipe. Really good stuff. Hard hitting and funny.
If this is how we do our The Daily Show, I'm ok with it.

That guy's pretty funny, but he'll never make it over here.

They said the same about Ramsay.

I don't think mainstream America would "get" Brooker. He's sarcastic and hateful (and likes to take the piss out of Americans), while Ramsey remade himself into a cartoon character who swears a lot. He's the Marine Drill Instructor archetype, only in a kitchen with a Brit accent.

One off, I think.
It was great though.

Finally got to see Gameswipe just now. Fantastic as usual, with a couple of bits of video I'm going to nick for my presentations. Also watched the Screenwipe wrap-up of 2009 which was good. Best news of it all was the mention of a 2010 series of Newswipe.

hm... have they announced how many episodes it'll be? Got to decide if I'll get them once a week so I can watch them while current, or if I'll wait till they've all been shown, and watch them all at once in a glorious orgy evening of sarcasm. Or I could just wait until they're shown on TV here. Like, never. Ever. Ever going to happen.

BBC iPlayer managed to put up the first 5 minutes of it. This is probably a sign I should go to bed but I still want to watch the damn thing.

His bit in the second episode about how news is made was brilliant.

Brooker is great but he did a bit on live tv feeds with reporters standing somewhere "live" knowing nothing. It really bugs the hell out of me now when I see "live" news items. They reburied a solder from the 1st world war the other day and cut to a reporter standing in a graveyard in France making a big deal out of him being there "live". I really doubt the place is a hive of activity after 90 odd years, but ok, maybe people wanted to see the graveyard, if so that failed big time as the "live" time was after the sun had gone down.

I really don't know why they do that. Hell half the time I suspect the reporter's actually in the studio somewhere in front of a green screen rather than actually there live but for some reason news is more official if the reporter seems to be there.

Thanks for bringing this subject back up, I'm playing catchup watching all the Brooker series. For anyone not following, the 2010 season of Newswipe has Doug Stanhope with featured pieces. Mary Mungo & Midge

I thought the Doug Stanhope whinefest from the last series of (Screen or News) Wipe I saw was terrible.
OTOH, time to search for Mr.Brooker's new product.
