I recently heard some rock/rap mashups on the radio and became really interested in finding more.  Unfortunately, google isn't being too useful in finding mashups (most of the results are articles relating to mashups and dead links).

Anyone have some good sites where I can find good rock/rap song mashups?

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

I don't know any sites (other than youtube) but I can point you towards a few artists. I have a couple of good record stores near me, and mashups are one of my favourite quirks in music and these record stores serve me well. I find that although some are made to purpose, others are just made as part of a larger mix. Really good mash-ups are pretty rare though in my experience.

Popchop - makes albums of nothing but mashups. I have 2, and they're about 15% hit, 85% miss, but the ones he does well are usually really good. e.g and e.g.2

Soulwax (aka 2 Many DJs) - you should own "As Heard on Radio Soulwax pt2" and "Most of the Remixes" anyway, since both are outstanding albums in their genre. Lots of stuff on youtube, but unfortunately, since Soulwax are a bit of a brand name loads of people just tag the name on anything.

Kraty Kuts - has some really nice stuff, did a nice mix album on the Fabriclive label about a year ago. e.g Track

meh... can't seem to find any of the better tracks on yotube

(PS: Sorry if I mix mash-ups with remixes, the line's a little fuzzy sometimes :p)

cool thanks for the recommendations.  I'll check them out.

If anyone is interested I did find this.  It's a pretty good mix.

Here is my favourite mashup. It's not rock/rap, sorry, but even if you don't like the two artists individually, the mashup makes 1+1=3.

That's a good one!  Here's my favorite, also not rock/rap:

Beck + Mazzy Star

Over and out.

I feel so bad for not liking Public Enemy in the 80/90's. I think Youtube is your best bet personally.

I like the mashups where vocals from both songs are featured: Green Day-Oasis  Snow Patrol-Police

(Bonus, THIS was in 'related videos' section, it made me lol )

Also, on topic

The Hood Internet are doing some pretty awesome mashups of hip-hop and indie stuff, with little extras here and there. They have some really well put together mixtapes, and it's all available for free.

The XX Gon' Give it to Ya' for example.

Another good one I found recently is Ritchcraft, it's more remixes than mashups, but it's all quite creative and interesting I think.

Remix of Dead Prez
Jazz version of The Blueprint

Oh, there's a thread for these too. Couple of my personal favorites:

DJ Y Alias JY - Can't Stand Beggin'
DJ Y Alias JY - Shut Up And Take Me Out

Then there's DJ Skarface who has a couple of nice ~30 minute mashups, Skar Talk and Skar Talk 2. I got them from a friend, but they're probably floating around on net.

In the event you hadn't heard, Girl Talk released his newest album.

71 mins and something like 327 samples.  It's meant to be listened to as an entire album but there's a broken-down version available as well.  Starts out with War Pigs/ Get out da Way.  Pretty good so far.

They mix well with pop and it's pretty amusing.  Here's a mashup of Metallica's So What with Britney Spears' Crazy

Titus Jones is pretty good for 80's and current pop music Example: Ke$ha vs. Glee Cast vs. La Roux vs. Black Eyed Peas vs. Iglu & Hartly

Aand since it's been over a year...

Bootie collective's Best of Bootie 2011 was released a couple of weeks ago: http://www.bootiemashup.com/bestofbootie2011/. The 2010 best-of is on their site too, don't know why I didn't post that back when it came out. Just like in 2010, I think I like the bonus material more than the actual best-of list.

Didn't see these mentioned, but if you are interested in mash-ups I really like "Closer in the Club" (Nine Inch Nails vs. 50 Cent) (old I know) and Battletoads / Jay-Z's "99 Problems".

Best of Bootie 2011

Just as an update http://www.bootiemashup.com/bestofbootie2011/ is a pretty good listen.  Make sure you get the tracks that didn't make the main release - still good!
