Just because no one mentioned it, Joe went to work for then Themis, which was why he gave the site to Schild. The drama part was all after the bombshell dropped, and the forum warfare immediately after.

The writing Schild will be doing obviously is for one of the network sites that the Themis people work on, so it does actually bring into question why Joe left in the first place when he started a writing for them job?

But if we want to get a little more serious, no one wants a community that eats its own young.

Joe was "inner circle" iirc.  He was one of the guys who posted at Moorlocks and the various other places that the #Hate crew did.  They felt it was a betrayal to give the MMO/ Bullshitting site to schild when he was an 'outsider.'  Plus they think he's a douche.  So, drama.

The only person still touchy about it is schild, if it's brought up. Nobody else really gives two yanks fom what I can see.

Corp was around before H2O and whatever, and the forum dwellers of every MMO site before or since are part of the resulting nuclear fallout splintering, only because people keep bringing it up... The MMO forum veterans or devs post to many different places, have blogs, and post to a forum that was or wasn't related to some site.

Some of us who have been around long enough understand it's just a community that may or may not recognize you for what you've said in previous posts (on this or another forum). Other than that? Meh it's an MMO forum, with above avg comedy sometimes.

Giantrealm has nothing to do with Warcry. I'm not going to get into details that have absolutely no business in public consumption, but you can only go by what's written on web pages. The facts behind the current arrangement and previous on-goings are the knowledge of maybe 4-5 people. Suffice it to say, 95% or so of everything that's been made public by anyone besides myself or Joe is hearsay. Except for a few posts by Haemish and one or two posts by Soulflame.

And as with anything: We do not comment on rumor or speculation.

Actually, at this point f13 may have lasted longer than LtM itself did.  Scott may have started it much earlier, but it was Sasha the Cyberwhore, GM Darwin, and the great flamewar with Dr. Twister (where it differentiated itself from everywhere else that talked about how screwed up UO was by not taking the side of the exploiters) that really forged the community.  That would put it around 1998, and by 2001 he was working for Mythic and the slow-motion train wreck of the Diaspora was on.

Well there has to be a little culling of the herd or else you end up with the Vault.  But there are some examples out there of places that cull so much they become nothing but incestuous cesspools of self righteous assholes that really don't deserve the air they feel they are the only ones fit to breath.

But it's fun to go back and read those old corp threads.  It appears that the report of f13s death was an exaggeration, or is it too soon to tell? :P

Heh, Snowspinner really was a piece of work.

Anyway, the old ltm community was split and splintered and mangled and pretty much marginalized, but it manages to live on here, kinda, largely because Schild and co. actually pay their hosting bills instead of stealing the money and taking long sabbaticals to gay hedonism summer camp. So like, thanks for keeping on keeping on.

I skipped the whole Corpnews/Waterthread thing.  When SND blew up, I went and hung out at Arcadian's for a while and had epic religion-fights with Dashammer, who I think might have gone on to become our Dash of politics forum fame.  After Arcadian disappeared to become the Chicken King, I just kinda dropped out until my brother pointed me at Waterthread just in time for f13 to be born.

I only started reading these sites after f13 was created, I only know about waterthread and all the the other sites because you guys rehash it so damn often .  I read and lurked a bit over at the corp website just because so many people here talked about it (at that time).  I thought the core people over there were some of the most smug, self-centered, holier than though wastes of flesh I had ever seen, I couldn't stand reading the main clique's posts.  I'm glad that website is a dusty graveyard.

Edit: And I hate how it's referred to as "The Diaspora", that is so far over the top it makes my head spin.

It gets called the diaspora because there's a real sense that it was a community that got broken up, also it's a community full of people who like a bit of melodrama.

Man rereading all those old posts brought back some memories (mostly of being confused at why everyone was suddenly declaring the coming apocalypse and who this schild asshole was). I miss the good ol' days of UO back when getting PKed could be a real adrenaline rush and people bitched about any changes that got made. Also about not having necromancy (was that finally introduced? I stopped paying attention when someone explained what EQ was to me).

One thing I've actually always been curious about but never bothered to ask, were there actually people who posted at F13 prior to the Waterthread merge? I was kind of under the impression there were people but I also don't know anyone who hadn't come from Waterthread or later.
