I'm just curious.

I'll be there, will post my name up when I make my character.

Edit: Holy Shit, that's a long subject.

Edit2: Name for Weekend is Threve.  Because it's a combonation of three and five.

Probably me. I don't believe I work this weekend, so I'm good.

Playing.

And you could have just said "Who's playing this weekend", but somehow the long name just seems more erudite... not really.

I'm so behind the times, this came out? I always find out these things because schild calls me and rants about the game for 10 minutes, but then again he has teh job now.

I think I will.  I even finally got the pre-order crap.  I'm hoping I can play an Erudite with a long name.

Jesus, you're so behind the times that you haven't even read the f13 threads. This is a beta weekend. Or a World Premiere event, whatever Arena.net wants to call it. It's free. You download the client and play. It doesn't come out til the middle of February. I'm hoping it comes out on my birthday.

This game seems to good to be true, I am wary of it.

Maybe it's like a marriage, while you are dating it (beta) everything is wonderful and you are in love, but when you tie the knot (release) it all goes to hell.

I'll be playing for a limited amount.  Figures this happens on one of my busiest weekends in awhile (Halloween parties rock.)

I got prepurchase though so I'll have many other weekends to play until February.

Will be in as Sobelius.

Next question: what character combos will people here play?

You;ve got main profession/secondary profession. Main determines armor type and primary skills, secondary adds more skills.

The "classes" are:

Monk (healer/buff/smite)
Necromancer (debuff/lifedrain/undead pets)
Mesmer (CC)
Elementalist  (nuker)
Ranger (ranged)
Warrior (tank)

My parenthetical descriptions are no where near accurate in terms of true skill choices available to each class. That said, supposedly Monk/Warrior combo is different from a Warrior/Monk combo. Like the M:tG deck-building analogies used to describe this game, you'll get to take only a limited set of skills (8-10 I think) from each profession for each mission you enter. Each class has 50 main skills and 25 elite skills, so if you have access to all skills in the game you can choose from 150 each time to go into a mission.

Personally, I'll probably opt for a Monk/Warrior or Ranger/Warrior this first time out.

I'll be playing, as Viin or Dabry.

I played a Monk/Warrior last time, so maybe this time I'll do Ranger / Necro or something weird like that.

More linkage to a fairly useful rundown of getting started in GW. Marketing-drivel description of professions. Good explanation of how to use Signets of Capture, skill charms, etc. It's worth the 5 minute read -- even if the text itself it can come across as condescending.

I have bothered to download the client, so I will probably be there as well. Even though there are Kamigawa release events in MtGO... choices, choices.

If you're bored this week, here's a few minutes of fun:

Open the GW client and click the settings button (the little castle-thing on the right edge of the screen). Drop down the Languages list and select "Swedish Chef". Just makes me wonder what these guys are smokin'?

I will be playing this weekend. However, I currently work nights (see when my posts appear) so will not see most of you I'm guessing. I will try to play some on Sunday.

I will say, I wasn't impressed with the E3 demo but am willing to give it another try.

I'll pop in to see what all the fuss is about. Even if the avatars make me cringe as I'm reminded of Lineage 2. I like the idea of a Mesmer/Ranger hybrid for fucking up the opposing healers.

Yea, I'm gonna run a Ranger/Necro build of my own divising. I wish we could fucking start at level 1 though. The preorder beta weekend the following week better let me start as a newbler. I'm worried about the lowbie game with how much mid level stuff we've seen.

Hehe. I forgot about that name. What was the name your friend always used? Had something to do with coffee IIRC.

What a cute way to put it.  Perhaps you could make a bit of money on the side writing jingles for TV. ;)
