I've been to nearly every water-covered area that lies on the border of the US and Canada.  Having said that, the only people that tend to vacation in those places (the UP of Michigan, Lake Huron, etc.) either grew up there, near there, or are too financially strapped to go elsewhere.

Seems like a put-down of my beautiful state! The poor man's vacation spot! This place is beautiful and is an amazing summer vacation spot.  Only people that come here in the winter are hunters. Overall, I see licence plates from all over...mainly neighboring states like Ohio, Indiana, Illinois...

Spoilered due to questionable awesome:

Some UP pics from my last vacation, at and near Fayette State Park in the U.P...bad rez though.

The water is beautiful and clear here as well.

Not a put down.

I have spent many summers doing guided survival trips in the BWCA which is quite similar to the UP.  It was a wonderful local spot to get acquainted with the outdoors and filled with natural beauty.  I just happen to believe that when money becomes less of a concern, your options for wilder areas become available and THAT'S where the outdoor adventure begins.

Yeah, I don't really think it was a put down.  There are some very beautiful lake, canyon, and mountain area's around where I grew up in northern California that everybody local will flock to for weekend excursions, and are a lot of fun.  However, they aren't something spectacular like Yosemite, and I would never expect anybody to travel any real distance just to visit these spots, especially out of state.  Despite the fact that I like them, if anybody was planning a vacation to California, I'd direct them to many other area's first, since they're limited on time and spending money.

Also, just like the description of the thumb, its just a bunch of small towns in my area with nothing really to do that would interest a tourist.  Except maybe getting shit faced in Chico and hitting on the college freshmen.

Did you scan that boat and then ram into it? I see no other reason for you to say the water was beautiful.. or go on vacation.

Hey, if the christians want the end of days in 2012, it's good to see my main man back doing his thing. I do like how very christian it is to just latch onto the Mayan calendar for their big end-game.

Wow, someone put an awful lot of work into Jarjar hating. But then one could argue Lucas put an awful lot of work into making us hate Jarjar.

I've done that in the city for catching some lightning shots, it's certainly much easier than snapping it in real-time.

Almost all lightning shots are random lengthy exposures. The star trails in that first photo gives an indication of how long some people wait for the photos!
