Film Video camera.

I found a huge box of my fathers films from Vietnam, including one where he got a purple heart for. He had a habitat of having his 8mm camera under his seat looking through the glass on the under front of the helicopter. The one for his purple heart shows after a hot pick up, as he was lifting off, a combatant got a lucky shot with a machete that went through the glass (that was already to shit from bullets) , and into his foot and pined it to the rudder pedal, he flew all the way back to base like that, and got everyone home.

I am currently looking into getting them digitized, and maybe shopping them out for documentaries. His films showed a very personal side of that war and he had gotten some AMAZING footage.

That is a pretty crazy story, glad to hear you father made it through.

Wait, someone attacked a helicopter with a MACHETE? That doesn't even make sense, or seem possible.

And yet they managed to injure the pilot. That would be a fucking insane video.

Glass was gone at this point, he was taking off, and the blade comes in from the under and side, goes between some toes and wedges into the sheet metal near the center of the cockpit. 8mm is just under the chair, on the inside side of the area, catches it all. Sadly, the film runs out during the long flight back.. but it was clear his foot could not move with out severe pain.

I can understand why you might not want to throw something like that online.... but that would be amazing to see

Someone attacked the *pilot* of the helicopter with a machete.  Considering what it takes to fly a helicopter, if he'd managed to take the foot off, it would have worked (takes both hands and feet to fly a chopper, you can't do most of it one-handed like a fixed-wing).

Nothing difficult to explain about that photo although it is unusual. The lightning channel is almost certainly as wide as most other lightning channels - about a centimetre. What the camera has captured is the dense ionised corona around the channel (actually looks like two channels are in that mess judging by the angles at the top) caused by the moisture in the air. Even the corona is overexposed to the point of burnout (as are the lights in windows of houses). Obviously a digital sensor, not film.

Sure, fine. Explain away God's throbbing shaft thrusting into the earth with fiery fuck vengeance with science. Be that way.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

Great.  Now I can't see that image as anything but a huge penis made out of light with lightning bolts coming off it.  Gives new meaning to over-exposed, I guess.

It would have made more sense if the artist gave Steve five fingers.

I thought that at first too, but his right hand having only 4 fingers makes me think that's not what they were going for - but who knows.
