It's cool 'if you're into that kind of thing'. I would like something like this (albeit sans red paint and more authentic craftsman detailing): Because right now my silver and black monolith is sticking out like a sore monolith in my living room.

That doesn't do anything for me. I'm really not into tarting technology up to fit faux antique furnishings by slapping wood, leather or cloth on it. I don't much care for wooden steering wheels and dashboards in cars either. I think that: is more attractive than: Thermaltake is going in the right direction if not in price. Obviously I don't want cheap and tacky innards on display, but if a computer is to look good I'd rather it was a celebration of its technical beauty, not an attempt to hide it in what amounts to pretty ugly furniture.

All I can think of when I look at the top picture is "How would I CLEAN that? Is it even possible to keep it looking shiny? Look at all the crevices where dirt can hide"

I thought that top image was a cool idea, because it kind of transforms your tower into and end table... Then I thought, "Why would I want an end table on top of or under my desk?".
It is pretty cool, but I would have no use for it, and I'm into my case way too often to deal with that.

That's an odd boat, what is it? I'm use to seeing the tiny river kayaks on 4s and 5s.. A canoe of some sort?

Just a canoe. 14 foot Whitesell whitewater custom built canoe by Nolan Whitesell. One of the first to start producing canoes specifically for the whitewater environment. Prior to that most people ran whitewater in the old Grumman aluminum canoes. And all of this came before anyone ever thought of trying to do it in a kayak.

I used to run the Nantahala, Ocoee, Locust Fork, and Little River Canyon. My brother used to be a rep for Dagger kayaks. Had to give it up on account of his back though (3 surgeries before the age of 35). I haven't been in years, though. Live too far away from them now.
Edit to add: Nice pictures, though. I miss it :(

Not sure if anyone else will but I think these shots are awesome. Me on the Gauley River (class 4-5) two weekends ago during Gauley Fest.
They are good shots. Can't say I've ever seen a canoe in that level of rapids. I will say though, I am disapointed that you don't appear as I had envisioned. I was expecting an impressive cop moustache.

Well, I did say it needed to be tweaked. But then, I like wooden dashboards. Not a fan of modern architecture and furniture. It takes diff'rent strokes to move the world, yes it does. "Why would I want an end table on top of or under my desk?".
I don't know, why would you? Why would I want a gleaming metallic monolith in the middle of my craftsman living room? I don't open my case unless something is broken, or to give it the occasional dusting. Broughden, that looks like a good time. But you do have a nazi stormtrooper look about you.

That's what I used to do. I've run quite a few 3-4, but never a 4-5. That's crazy stuff... I don't think I have the stomach for a 5 anymore.

It's ugly anyways.
In disagreeing with that opinion I'm trying to consider why I don't think it's ugly. It looks like it was made for heavy lifting while keeping what I see as nice lines. It's like a muscle car, I guess, but in the vein of the modern versions of the Charger and Camaro. Anyways, I figured instead of just saying "I disagree" I'd try to explain why I actually liked it.

Awesome pictures! I was always curious about whitewater canoeing as i'm not a big fan of kayaks. I'm going to check these out.

Is there any particular reason your doing it in a Canoe instead of a Kayak?

Not to be flippant but... Same reason Righ likes the metallic modern steam punk disc player versus the wooden craftsman look of the case Sky posted. Different strokes for different folks. In general though canoes (especially older whitewater canoes which tended to be larger like my 14 footer versus newer modern whitewater canoes which tend to be 12-10') are elegant and graceful but tend to stylize themselves as something which needs to be muscled around. The quintessential "old school." They are harder to tip over in bigger water, yet at the same time can provide more of a challenge due to their heavier weight and longer length. While kayaks respond better to more graceful handling. They can ride through rapids with aplomb, not taking on water due to the skirt, but tend to get pushed around more by more powerful rapids due to their smaller size and lighter weight. They each have their strengths and weaknesses. Canoes tend to be more of an East Coast (especially New England) thing, where as kayaking tends to be more West Coast....or at least that is how it originally started. In reality I do both. This past weekend I kayaked the Nantahala River. This weekend I will probably kayak the New River Gorge. But canoeing was where I got my start in paddling and something I still love. Edit: Sorry about not having the cop 70's stache. Im naturally blonde which always made growing facial hair difficult. Sky, yes I look like a stormtrooper. It makes scoring bud here in Ky difficult to say the least.

That is impressive. I've been in similar whitewater but rafted. Saw others do the same rapids in a canoe. Well struck Sir.

I dislike those cars' new looks. I like the KITT era of firebird/camero, for example. The case is trying too hard to be modern, maybe post-modern. I'm not an artist. It goes from a cool concept to gaudy. (There are technical aspects about it I like.)

Sorry, that reference elude me. It is both a joke about the state of North Korea and a joke about Naruto. No, I am not ashamed I made it. I am ashamed that I misread South as North though. Now I need to make a joke about Cell Phones or the SoJ exchange rate.
