I think she is also the Midna in the Link shoots. Not horrifying, she doesn't have a great body, but unlike many cosplayers, she doesn't force you to notice that.

She actually makes a good Chell since Chell wasn't supposed to be a looker. Why the cosplayer hate? Fangirls are the scary ones, and some of them cosplay, but not all cosplayers are strange. Some of us are perfectly normal.  |

There was a reason for the Joker smiley.  I've only dressed up for RenFest in recent years, though, and that's been nothing special beyond the personal satisfaction of making my own outfit. Some cosplayers really are scary. |

I had forgotten how much effort Cosplayers can put in, some of those shots (regardless of the actual human beings in them) are fucking awesome. I'm sure that there were probably about 20 other people for every one in that album that look absolutely awful but still. Hell check out the King Leonidis cosplayer, dude's ripped. I also say the girl in question (if the Hermione cosplayer) is pretty cute.
Barely related, was on a train on Sunday when two 16-17ish goths sat down opposite me. One had a little teenage beard going and the other was quite tall, long greasy black hair and was, if not gay, very camp. They kicked their conversation off with the latter going, "So I guess you're a CosPlayer now," with the other guy being somewhat defensive. They then got out a DS and a PSP and the first guy started playing something while the other guy showed him other CosPlayers and discussed ideas for costumes. It was kind of weird and I felt a bit like I was watching someone slowly getting dragged into a cult.

I actually kinda admire the effort that cosplayers seem to go to, even if I find them a tad scary. I suppose they're an easy target for ridicule, particularly amongst geeks because it's comforting that there are people more geeky than ourselves. Anyway, awesome pictures. These have done the rounds all over the place recently, but they are awesome. Couple of Russian photographers made a moon (and later a star) and used it to take a bunch of photos:   |
