Little bit of vertigo looking at that picture. Heights and me? Not friends.
It's not heights that bother me -- it's the edges. Even with a railing, I get really nervous. Like somehow I'm going to fall off, even though the railing comes up to my waist.

Heights, though -- not so much. I've stood near the top of the Shuttle launch assembly, which is some 300 feet up (if you count the blast pit) on what's basically a steel mesh floor. I could see all the way down, and it didn't give me a moment's pause -- until I got near the rail.

I'm terrified of heights unless I'm holding a camera.  Then I can manage to distract myself with enough "OH FUCK YA AWESOME SHOT" and forget to be afraid of plummeting several hundred feet to my doom.

The other thing about that picture - it's taken with a fairly wide angle lens (see the distortion on their heads). So the photographer was right up close, not like 50m away with a telephoto. Mad props to all concerned  awesome, for real

My old man was an Ironworker. I got respect for him, big time.
That photo reminds me of that famous one with the workers eating lunch: Lunchtime atop a Skyscraper. I think I would be freaking out if I was up there.

Pretty much. Sartre used it as an analogy for existential dread, you're not afraid of the height so much as the thought that you're entirely capable of (free to) throwing yourself off.
That's the feeling exactly.

I played in the pro-am for the 2007 Tournament of Champions here in Mobile.  She was in the group ahead of me.  I don't know if I've ever played as fast a round as I did that day trying to keep her in sight.

I'm sure it's going to be obvious when someone points it out to me, but...an iron hooked up to what must be a car battery?

Of course, that thing sucks; the design it was based on had what, 8 rounds? Going to single shot is a huge downgrade.

That list of projects that wasted taxpayer dollars would be a tough list to judge... it's SO long.

That reminds me of a 1980's CND poster that was When The Wind Blows with Margaret Thatcher holding Ronald Reagan in her arms against a mushroom cloud and the tagline "She promised to follow him to the end of the world. He promised to organise it".

Awesome man! Nicely done. We used to have that on our kitchen wall when I was a kid. Next to a large poster of Bob Dylan that my mum stuck a cardboard cross on when he got religious. I had weird parents.
