Isn't sea water deadly to Triffids.  Go wading and play Taunt the Triffid.

Great fun until you start shriviling up like a prune or get hungry.

Yep I posted that and another when the volcano happened, back in May: original post.

There's a good link to more Chaiten volcano pics via Brogarn's link. But they seem to be getting smaller instead of becoming desktops.

It wouldn't matter even if the triffids were allergic to sea water what with the ocean being full of krakens anyway.

Wait, triffids come from something other than that Day of the Triffids movie? To wikipedia!

Good God.

I have no idea who's being Sarky in this thread or not, but here's the inside scoop :

Read the Novel 'Day of the Triffids'.

It is, in fact, the scariest shit you'll ever read.

And I'm not talking about the walking killer plants.

Further, if you can, ORDER AND WATCH the BBC serial of the novels.  It's fucking great and currently sits on my shelves.  Sure, some of it is a little dated by todays production standards, but it still gets the fear across.

No snark.  I know about the others, but the only one I've seen/read was the horrible movie.  I've got to have some fun with it.

If I decide I need to keep a light on at night, I'll consider giving the book a read.  I'm not a big fan of giving myself nightmares.

So the Large Hadron Collider is finally on the verge of completion, and will start running active tests within the next few weeks. This thing is awesome in a class of its own I think. These photos and others shamelessly lifted and available HERE

Maybe we're in a loop and are the creator and destroyers of the universe all in one moment when this machine gets turned on.

Same. I'm very paranoid though and score stuff like 97% on paranoid personality disorder tests, but still, I don't support this LHC. However if a black hole was to be created it would be way too small to consume anything, but I heard that from a paralyzed man in a wheelchair.
